I got one of these cause they seemed cool. It sounded alright when I played it so I ended up tracing it to see what was going on under the hood. Going off the other pedals by this brand I'm pretty sure its a clone, not sure exactly what it's a clone of but there are some familiar elements. A TS style soft clipper with switchable asymmetry into a two-band Baxandall followed by a JFET buffer. (Yes, I know there's a gate resistor 'missing' from the buffer, it is not a tracing mistake, and the...
I got one in with a broken delay knob. Pics are on my instagram page (see sig)
I only traced the schematic that I found interesting.
- The Delay part is a copy of the Danelectro Dan-Echo with a PT2395 IC w/ some mods
- The Chorus part is a copy of the Ibanez SC10 pedal w/ some mods
I've had this compressor for a while but put off tracing it more than once because it's a pain to trace a fully assembled, white solder mask PCB. But I made it in the end!
The main reason for me was getting into the design, calculate its parametersand maybe customize it with the help of the great documentation on the THAT website. It's a solid design and I like it even more that I know that. Sometimes I think a schematic is the best advertising for a strange customer like me, and this is one of...
Hey everyone, I found pdfs of most of the Moogerfooger factory schematics and it doesn't seem like we've looked over them here. Anyone able to confirm they're accurate? I'm not skilled enough to do it myself yet (except for the CP-251, that one is way simpler than the rest).
I love how these pedals sound, but insanely expensive these days, especially the amazing MF-104 delay. Hopefully we can figure out how to clone them and find replacement parts, especially for the ones that need BBD chips....
Hi, got a pressure tank, took it apart and got some pics :3. It's actually very close to the diamond comp minus the tone bypass, even down to the double coupling caps which is kinda pointless in this mlcc version but still cute. Our unit's frequency response is not very flat, especially at higher comp settings, which is no surprise with the LM358 (0.6uV/s slew) that works as the makeup gain amplifier (U1) in this unit. We swapped it for a TL072, and while the bandwidth still feels limited at...
Another Exar pedal trace, Exar SF-02 Super Fuzz. I was lucky to have a friend in Austria who helped to get this one for a reasonable price. The unit seems to be produced in 1997 or later, as the latest date on the potentiometer was '97.

PCB is standard for series 2 Exars - single-sided, visible in the light.
Another Exar pedals tracing, this time it is not one but two effects at once - MT-02 Metal and BM-02 Bad Metal. I traced both at once, as it appeared that they shared a single PCB.
Both units seem to be manufactured same year - 1995 according to dates on potentiometers. I have boxes for both of them, but Bad Metal has a user manual, an Exar products catalog, and even a receipt from the store. It was old in 1997 in Warsaw for 77...
I just received this crazy heavy beast , it's pretty rare apparantly . It's a standart snarling dogs wah combined with a ring modulator based on a LM565 , the same presented in the Anderton's book (the electronic projects for musicians). (The big metal cylinder is the inductor ) I took some pics of the guts :
(I also put a schematic from Jc mailet's site for the ring mod part)
Does anyone know what are the differences between the standard Fulltone OCD V 2.0 and the OCD Custom Shop Candy Apple Red? Are there any differences in the sound between these effects, or from the technical side they are identical, and the only thing that is different is the appearance, limited amount and collector serial number plate? I asked the producer, but I did not receive an answer. Has anyone had the opportunity to compare these two versions and can say something about it?
I want to change the volume(level) pot on my Danelectro Fabtone to make the sweep more useable. Get loud way too quickly for my liking. Right now it is a 100k pot. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

It is a good sounding mild overdrive to push a tube amp.

there are unknown small red diodes in the opamp negative feedback.

Here the PN-junktion curve trace of these diodes:

While cleaning up I found this incomplete Reagun Distortion that I bought years ago.
Anyway, now I have traced it.
Here the PCB layout and the schematic, some measurements come later.
This is the same PCB as the REAGUN Overdrive but partly with other, omitted and additional components
I traced Exar FL-1 Flanger from my collection 🎉. The unit should have been made in 1989 or later due to the dates on the pots (09-89). I even have the box 😅.

This trace was quite challenging due to amount of components on the small single-sided PCB.
As I started, I immediately realized that it was based on... Boss BF-2. But when I went to the LFO section, it was completely different. So it is definitely...
I continued my Exar circuits tracing, this time it was Exar MM-04 Moon Metal. This one was a recommendation by some of my FB friends and I was lucky to get it recently from Germany for a decent price. It is the last Exar series 4, made in the early 2000s.
I have this Coron Distortion III which I got in an auction lot with a few other pedals.
Since I haven't seen a schematic for this online, and I wanted to practice doing a trace, I thought I'd give it a go.
I've added my trace files in case you can spot any mistakes.
Furthermore, I haven't been able to identify Q5, but my guess is that it could be a j-fet. It's marked 304 F1L and comes in a TO-92 case. The middle pin goes to ground and the other two measures...
A lot of people really like the old Rockman modules. They have been out of production for a long time now yet there are no schematics available. I understand the US patents expire after 20 years so they would not now be covered (?). Looking at pictures of the stereo chorus pcbs, it looks like it would be possible to clone it and I would love to have a go but without an accurate schematic it would be a world of pain. Has anybody else tried this?
Cool pedal. Felt like more of a distortion than a fuzz, and a trace reveals why. That sense control is super interesting too.
The only component I couldn't positively identify was D1, generic looking silicon power diode with the only visible markings being L7 .
It's only doing sacrificial shunt reverse protection so it has no impact on the tone anyhow.
I am looking to change the volume pot on my Danelectro Fab tone pedal to get a more useable sweep. Right now it is a 100k pot. Any suggestions? Attached is the schematic. It is labeled as level in the schematic. Sorry about the photo quality. Thanks in advance

I'm continuing my Exar collection tracing, this time I traced Exar HR-03 Hammer.
PXL_20221111_112405059.jpeg
Before opening it up, I thought it might be some Big Muff variation as it sounded pretty fat. My curiosity was high so when I got some free time, I finally started tracing. It is quite easy to trace Exar's single-sided PCBs, they are easy to look at traces on the light.

The PCB was labeled as SM-03, but according to Effects Database, it was announced...
Has anyone ever seen a schematic of this circuit? Maybe heard what it’s based off of? I do believe RG Keene either designed or atleast had part in the design. I Just got one and there’s a few areas I’d like to look into.
I can also upload some gut shots but Its been a minute since I’ve uploaded and don’t know what safe anymore lol.
I obtained a KORG DTR-1000 from ebay. Attempting to fix it.
There is no input getting to the tuner section. Power and tuner lights come on. I've confirmed that the power supply, and mute relay circuit is all working correctly.
So that leaves the FET/Op Amp input to the tuner. Using signal tracing I've confirmed the faulty component is the BA10358F op amp. I get a signal at pin 2, but no output from the first 1/2 of the op amp.
BA10358F is now obsolete. Its a 'ground sensing' dual ap...
