So I have a DL-4 that powers on maybe 1 out of 10 times. When it does power on, it works totally fine and indefinitely. Sometimes if I unplug it after working then plug it back in, it works. Most of the time it doesn't. After that, it seems like 2 consecutive times powering up is the limit. I've reseated the Eprom several times and thoroughly cleaned the pins. I reflowed all of the pins of the socket. I reflowed a few ICs around the Eprom to see if something was just making a bad contact. I've...
TL;DR: Xotic BB Preamp
Differences from BB: 2x Tl072 instead of 1x 4558 + 1x Tl072. 2x C1815 instead of 2n5088. Larger power caps.
I bought one of these to see what it was.
2x TL072, 2 transistors (C1815). Pots are B100K volume, A1M gain, B50K treble, B50K bass.
Input cap is 22n. One IC has 2 Si diodes and a 51pf cap in the in the loop. One IC outputs to a 10uF cap into the volume control, which then goes to a 100n cap.
Andy and I have been working on the Guyatone Fuzz Monster. I did a thread on some of the Guyatone FLIP series pedals a few weeks back at diysb, and one by one, we'll dissect them, and post the traces as we go. I have a Fuzz Monster, and Hell Monster on hand, and a Funky Box on the way from Japan. I'll be cracking them open as we go down this FLIP'd journey (pardon the pun  ).
For now, here is the schematic, courtesy of UKToecutter (Andy);
Hi!
I have recently got a DOD FX82 and wanted to mod it for guitar. While it shouldn't take more than adjusting corner frequencies in appropriate places, I still thought that a peek at the schematic would be nice. So far I only opened it once and saw one CA3080, one dual opamp, the switching IC and several transistors. Can it be a buffered dynacomp derivative (like that series 10 Ibanez?) If anyone has a schem - it would be greately appreciated!
does anyone know this pedal Effettidiclara AGATA from Italy?
It is a boost/driver with 2 gain stages.
Does anyone have a schematic or an idea what kind of circuitry might be inside?
I've been looking at the Marshall shredmaster for a while, but as used gear prices have reached questionable highs I'm looking at alternatives. I have heard the Truetone Jekyll & Hyde is a TS-like on the overdrive side, and based on the shredmaster on the distortion side.
Do any of you know how different the Truetone and Marshall pedals are? Is it a direct clone? Just wondering if it's worth getting the Marshall.
This is obviously based on the Single Channel Carl Martin Plexitone.
I really like the sound of this pedal. It's got that Bright-Channel Plexi character and a lot of gain.
If you're after a pedal that will help you get an EVH brown sound, you could do a lot worse than trying this one.
At less than £20 new, you can't go wrong.
I can't find a schematic of the Single Channel Plexitone - I wonder how close the Plexi-m is to it.
It would be interesting to see a schematic of the CM Panama to compare...
I've had a common problem with my unit so I traced the unit to get to the solution.
The problem is one I read more often online: the intensity is stock too high so the tremolo effect is really effective in the signal. A slight trem sound is not possible.
The cure was trimpot 1 that set the minumum depth of the unit.
I don't really understand what is going on in this unit....... the first two trimpots really dazzle me as I don't really hear much difference when I turn them......
Scored a handful of low-end 80s & 90s pedals on Ebay & Reverb for pennies. Since I couldn't find online schematics for most of them, I decided to trace the missing ones and see if they are blatant copies or somewhat original stuff, and to examine their worth as mod platforms while I'm at it.
Here's the Arion MDS-1 Distortion. Basically a bufferless TS9 with hard clipping. Or a modernized Voodoo Labs Overdrive with tone control. Or an SD-9 with active tone control. One could even sell it as a...
This one was a tricky bugger.
I am quite unsure about the accuracy of the trace, since I omitted all switching, but here's my shot at it.
Seems to be fairly similar to the Boss DS-1, missing one gain stage that gets added at the end. Horrid sounding crap through my Laney, even the abominable stock DS-1 sounds slightly better than this. But again, will tinker with it and see what mods are doable 8)
This 2nd gen of Arion pedals incorporate a second output with the ability to switch between...
I have a Digitech RP20 that was working, then it started to seem to have trouble staying on, where it would randomly cycle power, maybe not fully boot up, maybe sit and wait for 10 seconds before booting up and then crashing again. At times it would stay on for a few minutes without error. Now it seems to have no power whatsoever. I'm getting voltage at 2 of the 3 main power regulators, but nothing at U40. Caps visually look ok, but something obviously blew or shorted out. I'm getting the -5V,...
