I need a recommendation for a distortion pedal that...
- sounds good in front of a Vox AC30, with blue bulldog speakers and the top boost channel set to a bright clean sound (think U2...). Most pedals sound too thin in the middle, with too much “hairy“ treble...
Hi this is a buffer box from Italian brand.
Really good quality assembled pedal.
Buffer circuit nothing really new.
What surprise me is the IC2 of TL072 used for LED purpose.
I do not think audio will benefit of this use of the other half IC, can someone explain it ?
In order to take up the issue of the topic
,
I want to give you an information on the the pedal.
I grinded down the layer of joint sealing compound until a minimum has reached.
Afterwards I could remove the compound piece by piece.
I carefully removed the compound from the transistors and the IC, all but one became legible.
At least I removed all the componets and measured all values of each.
I made a PCB clone for and traced the circuit.
Hi everyone!
After a few months of using a Black Finger Compressor I´m ready to say that it´s a great sounding pedal. Many of the bad comments about this pedal are related to noises an cracks and things like that but instead of blaming the pedal check your guitar first! it´s grounded and isolated, and I mean with copper, aluminum or conductive paint?? No? Good pair of pickups? No? Then shut up!!
Anyway, I´ve opened it and there are many components that can be upgraded
But a few questions comes...
I gather standard modus operandi for the Fab series is a switching/buffer/I-O board and an effects board. I've included linked pics of both. Without tracing, I'm surprised at the effects board--a LF353 and a 2n7000 seem odd for a fuzz.

The effect you've all been waiting for, soon to be the next big thing at TGP ...
A user on the madbean forum was interested in the architecture of this circuit and it turns out there are no good gut shots on the web, so I took some. Pictures follow.
As with all the Dano mini pedals, there are two PCBs. The upper (bottom when in the operating position) has three ICs, labeled TL072C, HEF4063BT or 4053?, and U324 4013 (14 pin) - a dual op-amp; probably a CMOS chip; and either a quad op-amp or...
i see what i did. i reinvented....hah... if ya can call it that... the PRESENCE control. just like in an amp, you can use feedback to voice your circuits. sometimes. at least thats what i did.
so in the interests of what the fuck, here ya go. no sense hiding it lol its nothing even new i don't believe. that said,
IT WORKS FUGGIN GREAT.
a tone control without all the volume loss. seriously. after messing with this, the only way to fly if ya don't wanna have...
Not seen anyone mention this in here, for those who do not know it, it is imho the stable, useable version of the Fuzz Factory but also with a great Tone pot. I took mine apart earlier but it is all smd and I didnt have time to study it.
The Zoom Power Drive PD-01 was an attempt at a Klon type pedal and in it's own right is a fantastic sounding pedal.
The whole range of these 4 pedals are excellent, solid metal casing, built like tanks and sadly discontinued a while back.
Hi, I just trace Biyang X-drive OD-8
Yet another simply Tube Screamer clone with small mod for clipping diodes.
Originally powered by JRC4558 or KWK737 or NE5532
I use in my clone JRC4580D - it's working great :D
Enjoy 8)
I picked non-functioning Carvin T01 on eBay. Turned out the wiring was messed up and the cheap volume pot was bad. Replaced all the pots and fixed the wiring, and now it works great. I traced the circuit and it appears to be a part-for-part copy of the Boss SD-1. Sounds great though - probably because it uses the highly coveted JRC4558D  Also, you'll notice that it has a third jack which turns out to be a footswitch jack - not sure what advantage that provides, but there it is.
I tried the new gold box DOD 250, Build by digitech. I think it is an awesome DOD 250 Version with a Little More bottom end and little more compression.
Do you have a schematic or a list of Parts for this Version? I just could find the Lists and parts for all Other older Version.
The reason WHy I ask is, because I'm building a gray at the moment, and think about adding a Little more bass to it...
Got one of these in for repairs. To begin with, original pots were fastened with hot glue, stomp switch had turned into momentary, DC jack was shattered and the battery snap was dead. Swapped the broken parts and tested it. Sounded really nice. I figured that there has to be a schematic available on the web as it quite old and very nice sounding OD/Dist. So i packed it up with a ton of packaking tape, ready to be sent back to the owner.
In the evening i started to watch some Voyager episodes...
