Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
Hi, totally new to this forum
I Guess this is THE place for effects pedal questions.
Been looking around for confirmed Joyo pedal clones, are there any list of the pedals they have cloned?
I haven't found one so i started a list of my own and i woulld really like you guys who have knowledge about their products to add information or deny/confirm information in my list.
Just found one of these for very cheap so I gave it a go, also to understand why everybody talks bad about this one.
Actually I like it, it has its own caracter and voicing (kind of a woody tone). But I understand why people may complain about the fizziness. Strange noboy yet opened a thread about this one, so here we go!
Here's what I did to mine, to remove the fix and add a bit more overall body to the pedal:
C9 47n
C10 2n7
C7 3n3
R21 47k
R73 Jumper
C40 10n
R49 1k8
C18 1uF
Generally I'm impressed with the cheap TC Electronics line of basic pedals: they cover the basics, are extremely affordable and are built like a tank. With the Eyemaster HM-2 clone however, they decided (in all their wisdom) to only make the Gain and Level pots available, which makes it less than useless. So I set out to mod them to make them more useful. I propose two possible mods:
* Add a HI pot, with a focused range around the max, or:
* Move the Gain and Level inside, and bring...
I have a Daphon E20CH Chorus pedal which came to me in a broken state, though was an easy fix, and now I'm wondering if I can give it some improvements to make it as quiet as possible and maximise its performance.
It's using the MN3207/MN3102 BBD pair, plus there's a MC4558 and 022D JRC (an 8-pin amp chip). There's 8-10 X C1815 transistors. Most of the caps are green polys - plus several cheap-brand electrolytics. The resistors all appear to be carbon film, the PCB is...
There are all kinds of DS-1 mods out there and some are better than others. I've tried several and replaced all caps, the IC, etc...but it always falls short because of the overcompressed sound that plagues Boss distortion and OD pedals. I hit my low E string to hear the bass and when the stock DS-1 is engaged it cuts off so much low end it is ridiculous! This is why an old MIJ DS-1 is surprising because it is very open and warm. The reason is the diodes. The 1S2476 diodes clip at higher...
Hi,
I got an HM-3 dirt cheap a few years ago to use as a complement to my HM-2, but I always found it really hard to dial in. It's just got way too much top end sizzle regardless of where i set the EQ knobs, and there's not enough mids. So the other day I decided to try and turn the EQ section into HM-2 specs, and although it does sound a lot better now, I'm not quite there.
I need to state up front that I have no idea how to properly translate the values of the opamp EQ of the HM-2 to the...
Bought it and wasn't really excited with its tone. I really don't understand what goes where in a pedal, but I do ok with a soldering iron, so any ideas for little mods (with easy enough instructions ) are really welcome.
So I acquired an EHX knockout attack EQ with the idea that I could mod it into a multiband distortion. As you can see from the schematic , the thing is a couple of filter networks that can be blended with the dry signal.
My thought was to drop in clipping diodes at the bases of Q1 and Q2, thus keeping the clippers isolated to each band. Problem is, the AC voltage at that point is SUPER low (~100mV on the high and clean channel on my humbuckers if I really spank the strings, more like ~300mV on...
Hi folks, long time lurker, first time poster here. I've got a Guyatone VT-2 on my bench here which is working fine (and is a lovely little pedal - all through hole with space for a battery - wild!) I've taken in as it's causing a bit of a noticeable volume drop when it's engaged. I've found a schematic in [url= another post.
Having played a little with the trimmer, there's still a bit of a drop, (not as bad perhaps I haven't dialled it in quite yet), I was wondering if anyone has any...
.. the tittle of this thread being an attempt to play with words, although English is not my mother tongue. :P
I've already posted the explanations below in some long tedious posts or threads in other forums... But it should make more sense here. I'll just keep it relatively short for a first topic. :-)
The Tube Pilot is a cheap tube overdrive, apparently inspired by Butler / Chandler / Tube works Tube Drivers.
Problem: the Tube Pilot doesn't host any tone control nor tone correction for...
There seems to be DS-1 mods everywere but opinions are mixed, some people report great results while others say they buggered their pedal and they want it back to stock.
Any of you tone fiends have the definitive mods for the little orange box?
Thanks
Aharon
Just got the mod for the VT911 in the mail the other day. What a great scam these guys are running. You get 2 capacitors and 2 resistors, a Bitmo decal and an instruction sheet - about 50c worth of stuff for $20 US. By the time I'd paid for postage and the rest it cost $40 Australian. Anyway, I guess I paid for someone else's expertise - or my own lack thereof. I think I need to start reselling electronic components to guitar players.
I must admit though that the mod is a huge improvement over...
I've Just joined and wondering if anyone can help me.
I've got the J&J overdrive which i really like but wish it was a bit brighter. it seems to be a really simple circuit and proberly instantly recognisable to the experienced eye with common mods to this type of circuit. I've attached a picture of the board and marked all the capacitor values. I have a few questions and would appreciate in advance if someone could help.
1. How could I make it brighter overall ? even with the...
Hi all,as we know the MT2 sounds like a dead wood, what can we do to improve the sounds?
and is there anyway to change it to truebypass? using DPDT switch.
So i bought this pedal (which is based on a Tech 21 British), and has this cab sim that i personally dislike. Is there any schematic or layout for this pedal so i can bypass the cab sim?
