Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
Hi, totally new to this forum
I Guess this is THE place for effects pedal questions.
Been looking around for confirmed Joyo pedal clones, are there any list of the pedals they have cloned?
I haven't found one so i started a list of my own and i woulld really like you guys who have knowledge about their products to add information or deny/confirm information in my list.
I cant see why, I've tried different leds, and verified they worked before and after install but I cant get the led to work in circuit.
that's the schematic. I really cant figure out why it wouldn't light up.
Are the inputs and outputs reliant on ground to make sure the led lights up? I'm just using the main I/O not the stereo, there is nothing on those solder pads.
Hi there. I recently picked up this pedal for cheap and I love it. However, it does not quite achieve unity gain when engaged and comes nowhere close unless the eff.level pot is dimed. So even with this pot maxed out, there is still a noticeable volume drop. Its significant enough to cause a problem in live mixes.
I was wondering if there was a simple mod I could make to get to unity? Its all through-hole and I'm comfortable with soldering etc.
As it stands, I have to put a clean boost after...
I'm wanting to rehouse this and make it true bypass, so I figured I'd see about some mods. Particularly, adding more depth or thickness to the chorus setting. Any other mods welcome, as well.
Also what kind of switches should I use for the modes?
I'll be putting this in a 1590DD-sized enclosure along with the Phase Modulator from the same series (no mods, I love the PM7 as-is) so space for extra knobs and switches won't be a problem.
Hey all,
first of all I may be posting in the wrong section, so mods, feel free to move the thread wherever it should be.
So I've read here and there about DemonFX and how they might be copying the cosmetics of famous pedals but not necessarily their schematics. That seems a bit silly and I don't see what they would gain from only doing half of the job.
Also I have read on Reddit someone said that Josh @JHS had (reportedly) had a look at the AT-DS and said it was not the same as their AT+ and...
a) C27 and C28 make up a non-polarized 16.5uf capacitor which sets the speed range. If the capacitance value is reduced, the speed range goes higher. Faster speed can produce an effect that sounds very much like a ring modulator. I would suggest a pair of 4.7uf caps, back to back, as a suitable replacement.
b) Maximum flanging effect needs a 50/50 balance between delay and clean signal, but sometimes you want just a taste of flanging. If the value of R29 is increased, the balance is shifted in...
Bought it and wasn't really excited with its tone. I really don't understand what goes where in a pedal, but I do ok with a soldering iron, so any ideas for little mods (with easy enough instructions ) are really welcome.
I bought a Mosky XP Booster pedal (one-knob clean boost) with the idea of hacking into the pot. and wiring a jack in it that I could plug an expression pedal into so I could run it as a volume-pedal / booster with a remote expression pedal.
I do like a linear expression pedal for my purposes more than an audio taper.
Does anyone know what value expression-pedal would be optimal, or even better how I could add an expression pedal that would make the range go 0-to-75%?
.. the tittle of this thread being an attempt to play with words, although English is not my mother tongue. :P
I've already posted the explanations below in some long tedious posts or threads in other forums... But it should make more sense here. I'll just keep it relatively short for a first topic. :-)
The Tube Pilot is a cheap tube overdrive, apparently inspired by Butler / Chandler / Tube works Tube Drivers.
Problem: the Tube Pilot doesn't host any tone control nor tone correction for...
Hi! I'm trying to modify a Big Muff circuit adding clean signal blend. I've tried a few solutions but I'm not quite satisfied with any of them.
Initial idea was to add an input buffer (non-inverting op-amp) and split the signal into two patches also increasing input impedance significantly. I also wanted to boost clean signal a bit to make it more audible when the dry knob is set past 12 o clock. I've tried something like that (screenshot). What do you guys think? Maybe there is a good solution...
I was modding an unrelated Bad Monkey overdrive and one of the mods adjusted the intensity of the bass knob. I reverted it because it was too much for my liking, but it worked really well into my DS-1.
My question is, are there any ways to add a pre-distortion bass boost on the pedal? Hopefully one that wouldn't require I add my own little circuit board into the pedal?
Correction. There is a 1k resistor from pin 5 (heater) to the 470k grid pullup resistor. So it isn't exactly the same, the 1k resistor is on the tube board (probably a sub for the 2.2k heater resistor, there are only 4 wires to the tube board). And my digital camera batteries are taking forever to charge.
SMT, but the component values are on the silkscreen.
The reject bin tube barely amplified, I had to replace it.
Just got the mod for the VT911 in the mail the other day. What a great scam these guys are running. You get 2 capacitors and 2 resistors, a Bitmo decal and an instruction sheet - about 50c worth of stuff for $20 US. By the time I'd paid for postage and the rest it cost $40 Australian. Anyway, I guess I paid for someone else's expertise - or my own lack thereof. I think I need to start reselling electronic components to guitar players.
I must admit though that the mod is a huge improvement over...
The Sonicake Volwah is an extremely affordable, real estate saver of a pedal, with volume and cry baby wah style combined into one tiny enclosure. It has two LEDs which seem to be RGB to me since they are green when Volume mode is active, and red when Wah is active.
Without questioning it's build or sound quality, my main issue with it is that the LEDs are UNDERNEATH the expression surface. This pedal really small so you can't see it entirely when it's under your foot and that's just part of...
I just took apart my Amp Turbo. The board seems to be the same as the deluxe as it has the solder pads for the 3 switches and all the components. The components are surface mounted except the coupling capacitors witch are an orange film type, and the 2N5888 boost Transistor. All the clipping diodes are standard silicon diodes no shotkky diodes (bat46) in the boost section as a real amp 11. The boost section has 2 pairs of diodes that are selectable via the switch. One pair (D9,D10 )is a...
I recently bought a Brown Distortion pedal by Mosky, because I'd heard it was a clone of the Wample Pinnacle.
It does sound good, but I'm experiencing what I believe is the infamous sag issue, but that's not the point of this post.
Anyway I've opened it up and traced the components. It is indeeed a close copy of the Pinnacle, at least compared to the schematic for it that I found on this forum.
The layout is different and there are a few different values. It is well made and with...
Has anyone modded the GDI-21?
I think I'd like to add a mid control to it, True bypass, and fix the darn squealies the thing makes with EMG pickups.
I'm also considering using them as building blocks to build a 4 channel preamp.
I have a Tech 21 tri-ac that I love, and the Behringer GMX amp as a backup.
The gmx looks like two GDI-21 with a different input configuration on the jack.
The GDI just sounds like crap against the other two.
Anybody ever mod an Arion Stereo Flanger? I could use any help I can get as all I can do is switch out parts, no real technical knowledge at this point. But I do like to take the stuff apart and put it back together, especially when it sounds so much better after changing a couple of parts. Anyway if anybody can give me some info thanks very much.
he function of D14-15 is pretty unclear to me, they don't add clipping nor affect the volume or tone, so I just keep them in. D11-12 have the biggest effect on the distortion, you really hear the difference when you use a LED or silicon/germanium diode here. D8-9 have the least effect, I mean, you do hear the difference, but it doesn't really change the overall tone, the effect blends in with D11-12.
I use a Germanium in D8, D9 is standard, D11 standard and D12 a 5mm red Led. This gives me an...
Hey all, I'm new to the modding game and slowly getting my head around schematics and such. As I understand it, the DF-2 pretty much has the same distortion circuit as the DS-1, though given it's fitted alongside the feedbacker, the schematic to an amature is decidedly more difficult to figure out. Now, following it I can kind of see how the distortion's the same, but I'm not so sure on how to perform DS-1 mods on it without possibly bricking the whole thing.
I have a cheap rat clone and i'm quite happy with the tone as it when using it with my guitar on 10. ALL my guitars have treble bleeds and when i roll off the volume for clean tones which my amp does quite well, it's cleans up nicely and gets nice and chimey. But not with the RAT. Had the same issue with original RATs and ones i have built. The tone gets dull like you turned your tone control too far down. I have tried every setting possible on the amp and pedal but it's just one of those...
