Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
Hi everyone,
This is my first post, so I would also like to say hello!
I'm new here, but not new to building things. Here are some of the pedals I have built with sound samples.
I need to update that page with all this stuff...
I have also built some rack gear, like the Gyraf G9 tube mic pre
the Gyraf G9 buss compressor
I'm partway through building an Mnates 2-1176
I just finished wiring up a Calrec EQ, and I'm about 2 hours away from finishing my Soundlabs Minisynth
A distortion unit for about $ 20,-- with belt-clip AND 3m guitar-cable. :!: :shock:
I need to see some guts... hope the case is not glued together.... maybe the case, jacks pots and knobs are usable for something better? A replacement board maybe ?
Under $50 for a wah? It's hard to find empty shells for that little, let alone the potentiometer and gear assembly.
No idea about the quality, but it looks like the same mold as the Dunlop variety.
And hey, 2 free sets of strings.
If I bought one, I'd install a footswitch in the heel, and put another circuit in there. Two wah pedal controlled effects in one enclosure would be rad.
i have a beat-up ts-9 that i want to rehouse with an equally beat up boss sd-1. the plan is to be able to switch between and/or cascade one into the other. are there any diagrams re: how to hotwire the pedals so they're always on?
I have a pretty old CE2 in need of maintenance and would like to perform some mods while at it.
1) I'd like to mod the input stage to be more like the one in CE3, i.e. converting it to a fet-input, with similar values of corresponding passive components. I was thinking of BF244/245A or 2N3819. Any objections to that?
2) I was thinking on strenghtening the pre and de-emphasis RC network, i.e. C3/R5 and C15/R23 from schem to values of 10nF/6,8k. In theory, this should keep the corner frequency...
I'd like to build a Dynacomp/Ross circuit with a blend feature like Barber's compressor has. Can anyone point me to a circuit fragment or idea that will get me started? Barber's design seems to have a pot that goes from all Direct, no compress at one extreme to pure compress, no direct at the other, with all points in between as Billy G. would put it.
Anyone have any tips o modding this pedal to get a litte more transparency when on or even adding a tone control on it for something like a treble boost?
From the same folks at Fatback Labs that brought you wah-wah boots: the untold story comes a brand new episode of Duct-Tape D.I.Y.
Take one Saxxy electronic kazoo...
-add a Dean Markley mini amp
-half a tennis ball (sound funnel)
-a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter
-a small cardboard box
-some bubble wrap to insullate to sound from the amp
-half a roll of duct tape
...and voila! Your have your very own three voice monophonic guitar synth:
If you thought that belt clip chinese disortion was cheap, I must say I did even better with these two Collins pedals (9eur/a piece)
discofreq affiliates them to these brands
* Aria OD-1 Over Drive
* Collins COD-1 Over Drive
* Dinosaur DOD-1 Over Drive
* Legion Sound DOD-1 Over Drive
* Route 101 OV-1 Overdrive
And you can buy a new one for 19,99EUR here:
Oh and I bought the wah too, for 20 EUR!
One of these should contain something pimpable, will let you know when they come...
Fender has a line of budget effects that are being sold for around $50 in big stores like Target and KMart. On a whim, I bought the chorus and was very nicely surprised--a *great* chorus, with both hi-pass and lo-pass filters. Also very nicely made for a massmarket box, well constructed and sturdy.
Hardly boutique at all, but here are a few gutshots.
I'm trying to make a footswitch for my Marshall TSL60 Head. I can buy one new for $130 but all the reviews say they are crap and dont last.
Here is the amp schematic. Page 2 A5 is the footswitch jack. From what I can see pin 6 is ground and if i connect the other pins to ground I can change channels. Is that correct? Would I need momentary switches? Thanks for any help you can give.
I should also add that it is a 5 button footswitch. Channel1-3, reverb and FX.
I have two of these. I have already done some mods to one.
These are two beat up little boosts pedals that I have owned since the 9th grade.
I have heard you can make them like a klon type boost, I have heard you can make them klon boost killers. I have heard you can make them really hi-fi and and clean and crisp. I have heard that the creation audio labs mk4.23 is just a modified microamp.
I am bored and want to try everything. As is they are noisy and kind of bland sounding. Decent, but...
This is $20, opamp Gain Treble Bass. just add your fave clipping element, such as a FET, MOSFET, CD4049, NPN Ge, whatever. Add a master volume. Plastic case, so a lunchtime project. Just put something between the jack and PCB, some copper foil shielding. The PCB is small, plenty of room.
Or use it as a booster :).
I use this pedal (the Pearl AD-08 ) now for a long long time, even before I got into modding and building. Now I never looked into this pedal as I can't find any (technical) info on her.
So
Does anyone has a schematic / info on this pedal? I find it to sound quite like the BOSS DM series in both sound as color. Love the pedal. On the inside the next IC's are visible:
- MN3205
- MN3102
- NE571N
- MC3403P
Also, any upgrades possible on this unit? It sounds quite muddy.
