Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
Well I suppose we had better start by listing all the cheap TSs and everything that is make-able out of them...
A bit later I'll list the Landgraff parts changes. Bit busy now
Long story short, I will try the mod suggested by Brian Wampler on he's youtube channel and turn it into a Tubescreamer with parametric Eq.
The first preEq stage will become a buffer, the hard clipping section will become a soft clipping one and the next fixed Eq stage will be rewired to become a tone control.
Now, I would like to invert the order of the Tubescreamer circuit and the parametric Eq. I want to have it this way:
Picking up a cheap Behringer fcv100 volume pedal next week. I'm familiar with Behringer, and I know what sort of quality (or lack thereof) I can expect... It seemed like it could be a fun pedal to pimp out. Anybody have any experience with these? Any mod ideas?
Hello, this is my first post and I hope I am posting in the correct section. I have a Vox 847 wah that I got fairly cheap, and it had this Castledine board installed. It works, and sounds good, but a couple of things I would like to change.
The first thing is making it true bypass. I have an appropriate switch (Dunlop ECB035 DPDT, not pictured) for doing it, but I don't know how to attach it properly to this board.
Second thing is that I would like to add a dc power port. It looks to me...
Hi everyone,
I've purchased an old GE-7 Boss eq and I'd like to mod it a little bit.
My version is the new pcb one, with 3 opamps.
I've read that the most important thing due to hiss reduction is to swap the 3 opamps with NE5532, I've found NE5532AP which should do the job: I'm not worried about the current usage 'cos I don't use battery.
The Other Mod that I like to do is to swap 3 1uF electrolytics caps with non polarized ones (C21-C2-C32)
Another mod that I've find is about replacing the...
Hello, this will be my first post. So I hope I make a good impression. Anyway, I am new to modding. I started out by modding my Soul Food. I wanted a fatter sound, so I added an on/off/on switch, and piggy-backed additional capacitors to the existing cap on the board with either on position while retaining the stock sound when in the off position.
Here is my question: is it possible to add a clipping diode circuit on one side of the switch in order to add additional distortion in that position?
There's room for improvement on this one ...
I'ts a cheap distortion that i bought in a toy store almost 15 years ago, and it sounds great for 80's metal ... :slap:
It has no clean, no crunch, the tone control is inefficient, it hisses a lot, and reduces volume. Can be used with bass too.
BUT there is a JRC4558DD inside, the input buffer is quite transparent, and the plastic case is really sturdy.
It looks like that , except mine has a pink battery cover/name plate (early version)...
I dont know if its correct to post this here so: mods please move the thread to anywhere else where its ok.
i want to mod my Ibanez because it sounds like woh-woh. i want it to sound more like Wah-wah
anybody got the schematics? or better: anybody knows which component to change to get the effect that i want?
there are to trim pots and one normal pot to adjust the range and i tried to make it sound better through adjusting them but it doesnt yet sound like i want it.
To anyone out there who is familiar with the circuit, of which I know there is no short supply, how could I add just a little more high end to a ts 9? I read somewhere that decreasing one of the caps on the tone stack could let more highs in, but is this a good idea and which cap should be changed to what value? Thank you in advance
This is my modded Behringer BDI21. It's a clone of the sansamp bassdriver.
Outside
Ugly Inside
Besides the true bypass I've added a mids control ( the one STM published on diystompboxes) and a new blend control. I didn't like the old blend control because the clean signal was mixed before the EQ and I want my signal unaffected.
I'll add this mods to my DIY sansamp too. So I'm going to have the behringer clone and my own clone.
Hi people
Got my hands on a elderly Ibanez SML Super Metal pedal
sounds super, but the volume is kinda laking on some eq settings.
anyone know a volume mod for this ?
have tried looking around , didnt really find anything
Hi!
I modded my DS-1 following the instructions available here:
All seems to work fine but the distortion knob causes some issues.
It does what it's supposed to do as long as you don't krank it higher than 2 o'clock.
After that it works like some kind of threshold and attenuates lower signal passing through only stronger signal.
With lower signals it just farts. :)
Anybody encountered this issue? Any ideas how to make it work fine through the whole range?
Guys, this is a mod that I did in my boss HM-2 based in schematic listed in other topic off fsb. It isn't intend to be a exactly copy of the DOD Boneshaker as I intend to keep the same quantity of controls. Pay attention about the mosfet pinout, you have to rearrange the pins.
I set the eq section I changed the bass to 103 hz and treble to 9.5 khz both acts at approximately 2/3 of octave, It works very good in my set.
When I first got the Trelicopter I really liked it. I now realize that it has a volume increase when engaged (I would prefer no increase or decrease). Does any one know how to manipulate the volume by changing any components?
I'm a big fan of this much maligned pedal. I have 3 of them.
They sound stellar into a MIAB type pedal in front of either my Blues Jr or Hot Rod Deluxe.
One is rehoused into a Small Bear 125-B enclosure without a switch so it would fit better onto my main board with a switcher.
(purple box, upper-right)
One will be getting the full-on EJ FF treatment with TI BC183 & Fairchild BC183C transistors. I'll also be bringing the high-gain transistor collector bias trim pot out to an external...
Hi Folks,
I found a mouse for cheap and after taking some time to check out it's build quality (which is excellent), I wondered if there was a way to fit in some of the cool modifications from the VFE Alpha Dog. I like the idea of the pots for hard and soft and also the fat pot. Anybody got any ideas on how that may be able to get done?
Hi guys!
I’m very new and new to pedal mods.
I would like to know how to make my fender chorus pedal sound less compressed And trebly ‘Ice picky’ sounding. I love a vintage tone, darker, warm and thick. Will changing to perhaps film capacitors in parallel or something help? What could I do to make it more open and warm?
Hi guys. New to the forum and to modding.
Just took apart my Fx75B for the first time with the intent of turning off the sweep of the flanger (which I normally do on Flangers with the width/range knob all the way to the left) to achieve that robotic sound, but what's getting in the way still is the SPEED knob, which doesn't seem to turn off completely when turned to counterclockwise. Whereas turning it clockwise all the way generates a short delay, I actually prefer the sound of the fixed...
Hey guys I'm looking to mod my joyo extreme metal so I can either add a seperate knob for the boost channel to controll volume and treble boost seperetly, or take away some treble or add bass. It's almost unusable as is. Anyone found a solution yet?
Thanks
Jesse.
a) C27 and C28 make up a non-polarized 16.5uf capacitor which sets the speed range. If the capacitance value is reduced, the speed range goes higher. Faster speed can produce an effect that sounds very much like a ring modulator. I would suggest a pair of 4.7uf caps, back to back, as a suitable replacement.
b) Maximum flanging effect needs a 50/50 balance between delay and clean signal, but sometimes you want just a taste of flanging. If the value of R29 is increased, the balance is shifted in...
1. Which tabs on this jack should be attached to which traces on the output on the right side of the pcb? Old output jack was cracked. I have attached photos of both sides of PCB (component side is L-R inverted). The schematic I've found for this pedal makes no sense, and I don't have the best setup for testing as I go (no amplifier near bench). The old jack was a 6 pin pcb mount plastic thing, but I'd rather wire in the jack i already have.
