Another part should be modification: on ebay you can buy really cheap pedals. For example this week I bought a Ken-Multi/monarch Distortion for Eur 8,50 plus shipment. This boxes are not so bad. For example the PSK SDS-2, SDS-3 or SDS-5 (seems to be now the roque SDS-5 can be easily be modified to be a Rat. They put in this unit since years a 470 Ohm instead of the 47 Ohm resistor in the...
It sounds to me like it has a triangle wave LFO and if you plug a dummy lead into the dry output the main output goes wet only and becomes a cool (if weird) vibrato. It got me wondering whether it would be possible to filter the LFO a touch to give an optional different character to the chorus/vibrato.
My thinking is that the depth pot is probably a voltage divider so putting a cap between the output of that and ground shouldn't be too hard, does this sound right? If it sounds good I'd try and...
can I build an effects pedal with side jacks and top jacks so I have options - ie. once a cable is plugged into say one of the two input jacks the other becomes void?
Is it possible to true bypass a Danelectro French toast with out building a new box? Any easy diagrams or pics to walk me through such a project? Thanks, Terry
While everyone else was fooling with Klon Klones this weekend, I was doing something useful!
Here is my True Bypass mod for the cheap-ass Behringer VP1 Vintage Phaser E-H Smallstone knockoff. I'm not normally real psycho about True Bypass, but this thing needed it bad - had all kinds of LFO crap getting into the bypassed signal.
This is an extremely easy mod and can probably be used as a basis for doing the TB mod to any other of these Behringer knockoffs. This...
I found an old post in wich a Joyo speaker sim bypass was discussed. The problem i encoutered (beside pcb soldering  ), my JF14 appears to have a different layout............

Does anyone have a clue how to achieve a speaker sim bypass on this pcb board?
Hi Noob to the Forum! I just wanted to document a neat & easy little mod I did today on Fab metal. The 2020 lockdown has seen me obsessing over pedal mods since l finally modded my DS-1 which was only 3 years in the waiting
I then went onto looking at the Fab Metal. I was surprised how little people have done with these in the way of modifications in the 15 years it's been out.
I looked long and hard online to find any examples of mods for Fab metal, a 15 year old pedal but only...
I have a biyang phaser and it seems to have a gigantic high pass filter. It is very bright, even compared to the small stone. And several of these pedals, especially those that use LFO sound similar.
Someone faced this problem and found some solution?
Does adding a low pass filter help? Where should I put it?
Thanks!
I really really like this delay. The echo mode sounds brilliant. There's a couple of mods though that might interesting to do on this one:
- the old 'trails' mod
- a tone pot for the repeats
- maybe an fx loop.
Here's the (pretty hard to read) schematic:
Trails mod
The flip flop circuit kills two signals. One that goes from the compander to the delay chip, and the delayed signal itself. Schematic wise, we're looking at the R33/D5/D4 junction. Killing just the first signal, leaving the...
Hello friends
These are mods I have done on several customers Boss DD2 or DD3 pedals to obtain a more realistic tape echo sounding device.
naturally - only a tape echo sounds like a tape echo  , but these mods will certainly get you closer to a tape echo sound (without the noisy and inconvenient tape loops).
the schematic can be found here:
Please note these mods apply to the original DD2 or DD3 which used the 64 pin DIP controller IC.
If anyone is sufficiently interested, I will post...
I love this pedal as a clean boost, all that mid hump with no clipping cuts through the mix, but how could I get more volume on this great TS clone?

pimping my behringer sf300 superfuzz with univox superfuzz mods.
sf300.jpg
happen to have a spare of these pocket-money pocket rockets that i want to pimp.
even though i'm fond of it as it is. proper raunchy. not far off the univox, a shade finer grit perhaps. but damn close for no money. and for that reason handy for practise occasions when i don't want to take best stuff. lost, broken, stolen, etc.
as the layout borrows heavily from the classic univox (shin ei, unicord, etc) superfuzz, i...
I'm wanting to rehouse this and make it true bypass, so I figured I'd see about some mods. Particularly, adding more depth or thickness to the chorus setting. Any other mods welcome, as well.
Also what kind of switches should I use for the modes?
I'll be putting this in a 1590DD-sized enclosure along with the Phase Modulator from the same series (no mods, I love the PM7 as-is) so space for extra knobs and switches won't be a problem.
searched google for a topic here and didn't find one
bought one relatively cheap, thought maybe i could turn it into a poor man's hm2 to use for my bass. not exactly what i got, but it sounds like a good overdrive/distortion. heavy enough in front of a distorted Marshall-type circuit but not nearly as heavy as an hm2 or mt2. wanted a pedal for bass and this should fit the bill.
let more bass in: c1 47nf to 220nf (would've used 100nf but this was what i kept pulling from the bin so...)
Can someone explain what helps a dirt pedal clean up with guitar volume? I recently did an SD-1 to OCD mod I found on another forum and it sounds really good and cuts through the mix nicely at stage volume. While it cleans up reasonably well, it does not clean up as well as I would like. It definitely does not clean up as well as the real OCD.
What aspects of the circuit would I look at modifying in order to achieve a better cleanup? I did not use the 2N7000s as clippers because the...
how would i go about using a volume pedal to control a volume knob on a pedal?
My exact situation is that I have a jamman looper pedal, Ive already built a syncman to connect it to my drum machine and so i love this pedal, replacing the pedal is not an option and I would gain a ton of control over my loops if I can use a volume pedal instead of awkardly using my foot to control the knob while still playing.
It is possible to just splice in a female patch cord connector to replace the...
Got a CoolCat Vibe, it's been modded to put the Speed control on top for easy turning by foot.
Works fine when the effect is engaged (sounds great) but when bypassed there's hardly any signal passing through.
Opened it up to check the footswitch connections and found a small multiplug that's not attached to anything - two red wires with yellow stripes and a green ground wire.
Can't see any terminals it might be meant to plug onto, and am wondering whether it came loose in shipping or if...
I am Johnny from Belgium
This is my first post.
I want to start with pedal building (so I ordered my first kit from das musikding)
I will have a lot to learn ;-)
My question.
A few years ago I bought this Chinese Butler clone 4 knob + bias)
It sounds good , but how far of the real thing is it.
And if it is wrong could I mod it to the real deal
Also it came with no power adapter
Now I am using a 9v 1000mA adapter (I didn't risk to use a higher power)
Would it...
some ago I modded a RAT2 putting two 1N34A diodes, whis is, as far as I know, what it is supposed to be in a You Dirty Rat circuit (since I have another stock RAT2 the comparison is easy and I prefer hands down the YDR sound).
BUT, reading around in various forums, the info about the right type of diodes in current production pedals seems a bit confusing. In the official site the YDR is reported to have germanium type diodes but several users opened their pedal and found:
I all, I already introduce myself, But just in case i'm a Bass player so I've done some minor mods to achieve better tone and get more bass frequencies to some of my stompboxes. But my knowledge about circuits and electronics is very limited so for necessity I had to learn how to weld and do basic mods.
I recently scored a brand new TC Tube Pilot at GC and I immediately fell in love with the fuzzy sound with a guitar bass. Now the problem is that it sucks all the low end and makes it useless...
I got one off of ebay, hoping that it would be a decent ocatve pedal (don't ask me why), but the tracking is really quite bad. It isn't worth re-selling, so is there anything cool I can do to it?
I am fixing an old MXR Distortion+ for a friend. To the best of my knowledge it is a 1980. It needs a new battery snap and possibly a new pot. Apparently, these pedals were packed inside with some kind of foam, possibly for shock absorption. After almost 40 years it has eroded and turned into some really nasty stuff. The foam has broken down and is now a greasy film that is also quite sticky. Does anybody have any advice on how to clean this up?
Hey, been wanting to mod my ultimate drive. Searched a bit around the internet and didn't find anything interesting enough. Does anyone know any mods \ bends to make the pedal sound more unique? Feel free to suggest anything. Thanks!
anyone know what the component changes are for a keeley mod? also, ive heard the fulldrive is based on this. if so, is it possible to turn an sd-1 into a fulldrive?
