Original Tracer Layouts A collection of original layouts for vintage guitar effects. If you want to build real replica's of vintage pedals, this is the forum you want to look at.
This page tries to keep the available projects indexed.
If you want to share files to build a effect that's not yet (widely) available, it would be a pleasure for us to host it here.
The projects should be verified , though, and at least contain a schematic , some layout file (transfer, vero, perf) and a component layout file .
Incomplete or unverified projects will be moved to the Projects in Progress folder: if you fall upon such a project, please report the...
I had a little mess around with the layout for Rick's mini chorus. So I could fit it around the parts I had at hand.
Hope it's cool with him. Thought I'd post it. Maybe someone else could make use of it. I've built it and it seems to be working fine. Nice effect. Cheers Rick.
i figured that everybody has some GT308s lying around right? so i thought i'd build a fuzz around them! enter the Panzer Fuzz!
so, considering that the 308s are nice and relatively gainy for soviet germs, i figured i'd build up a super high gainer. this one is great for chunky metal and doomy grind. it's got plenty of bite and should satisfy any metal craving you might have. it consists of three 308s feedback biased with controls for gain, hi drive, lo drive, tone and volume. the...
Hello everybody beauty,
I'm riding the Preamp of JCM800, to use as pedal and would like to exchange ideas,
I want to increase the gain considerably, even for metal.
the project here. (original)
I will only do more to Preamp
I was looking scheme Bogna Shiva
that is a great gain and noticed that scheme is almost equal to marshall, so did the seguiinte scheme from the Bogna Shiva mods jcm800 ...
return comentarios and see ...
As an experiment, in a recording studio recently, I had a box with me that allowed switching between different types of clipper. The basic circuit was a low noise Tubescreamer type (circuit below), with the option of differing diodes, MOSFETs, transistors and LEDs for clipping. The clippers could either be connected to the inverting input of the first op-amp or to the mid-rail (which is AC ground because of the large electrolytic from the midpoint of the bias potential divider).
I love the Butler tube driver, but I'm NOT paying that much for something with crap parts! So I'm playing with the idea of getting some PCBs made to hold things like Orange Drop caps and RN60 resistors. (I'm a Vishay fan, what can I say?) The more people I can get to order, the cheaper it'll be. So I hope there's interest in getting some PCBs made for a mojoized Butler!
Here you have cloned Rat2 pcb which is taken from early 90's rev. L dated 12/86 like the schematic (Thanks Soul Sonic for that :thumbsup ).
The pcb is in jpeg format, i do not know dimensions so play around with that and you will figure it out. If you need it in some other format just ask and i will reupload it. Uki wrighting on the board is my little brother nickname and i called my clone Uki becouse he is little 6 years old dinamit :D
I recently acquired some Turbo Rat pictures and board is...
While messing with the basic SHO topology for another project another project I decided to add a switchable SSRP section lifted from the BSIAB. The resulting output signal is what I can only describe as superheated . Best to don your trusty asbestos gloves before laying down some uber hot licks and riffs into a tube amp with this sucker...........
component values for this build are unchanged from the schematic .... only change : pin 7 is tied to +V .... the soundclip is guitar into effect into line6 amp simulation software w/ a touch of reverb .... i'm really impressed with the rhythm channel sounds this circuit can give you .... very amp-like to my ears .... compared to Craig Anderton's Tube Sound Fuzz ...
the 4049 is certainly a versatile little chipster :applause:
Hi all i have had this board for quite a while now and not really done anything with it so i thougt i would share it with the world :). It a slight copy of the Clyde McCoy wah and the only difference is, is the Ge transistors are silicon and the layout is my own.
Here is a schematic.
As you can see i have placed extra copper taces for your own sized inductor. With this you can drill your own holes.
With this build i would recommend getting yourself a 520Mh inductor for that real classic...
Hi
I Thought I would contribute with something here so here is the project file for a Zvex seeks Wha type of effect. The layout is done to fit in a small Hammond 1590A enclosure but of cause it can be fitted in any type of box.
See my site for more layouts, mainly done to fit in Hammond 1590A enclosure and to fit the stompbox directly on the PCB but that’s of cause up to any one to do as it suited.
Last week, my nephew wanted a simple effect - on tromp, he wanted some extra level. Just a simple boost. Then I thought about his stage rig, and remembered that he was always a long way in front of his backline, so some buffering would probably be a good idea. The first prototype used just one dual op-amp, but gave inverted output from the gain side. Knowing how anal some players can be about phase relationships, (not my nephew, but many others) and having a glut of TL074s, I thought I'd...
DISCLAIMER: Like the title says, this is NOT a 1:1 copy of the pig mine, just my attempts to get close to the sound of it. I have no idea what transistors are being used here, my current complement is Q1 = 2N4401 Q2, 3 = BC109C (from a set hat i kept aside for the top fuel from these boards but never got down to making) Q4 = 2N5088.
PCB layout is unmodified from gauss-markov's page:
the one thing i feel it needs is a 100u cap from 9V to ground. there's a small amount of inherent noise....
Everyone will have seen the similarities between these two pedals - I'm just building a 2 - in - 1. It's a Jumbo Tonebender that can be a Big Muff Pi at the tromp of a button. It's in prototype on the bench right now, and there's some auditioning to do.... Back later with a schematic and layout!
I just came up with this small effect.
It is a single transistor booster, overdrive and distortion.
Right now it stays on the breadboard, but I plan to put it in a box soon.
It sounds good to my ears and the input caps network can change pretty much the sound of the unit: going up with gain it’s better to reduce the input cap value (available values are 15 nF, 62 nF, 115 nF and 162 nF) wile a big cap and little gain can make an interesting light overdrive.
Someone who prefers knobs can put two...
So, in my spare time I'm putting together an analog delay that marries the Aqua Puss and Deluxe Memory Man feature set (with a few caveats) , and I'm hoping to get a little feedback and show my work in progress as it comes together. Here is a list of the design goals:
(1) Aqua Puss (DM2) serves as the basis for the design.
(2) Integrate DMM features of modulation and input gain overload.
(3) Double the delay time (or maybe 1.5 times the delay of the AP) ~ shooting for around 4-500ms.
(4)...
I've been working on this one on and off for the past month or so. It's evolved into something with quite a few interesting tonal possibilities.
First off, you'll notice that it has switchable diode clipping, this idea was suggested to me by Derringer, so I tried it and it worked well, adding a bit of sizzle to the boost and overdrive. There is a slight volume loss when the 'Dirt' switch is engaged, though there's enough boost in the circuit to compensate for this.
Here's what I end up doing when I want to tweak something while I play guitar (not for neighbors between 1 and 7 AM ):
Fuzz Face with Germanium 2N1305 vintage T's (but sockets allow anything) and the Orange Squeezer, SMD relay true bypass on power off. FF accepts anything from standard resistors to Y-axis trimpots.
I'll dig up the etching layout if anybody wants it.
Hi all, here is my project is now completed, we find the fx tonepad well as those of general guitar gadget kits musikding, an effects loop in the insertion and so on, for those interested the box (51X28cm) is manufactured by Hammond to Canada. I let you judge!
I took time (12months ....), and I needed a project to learn how to make effect pedals and electronics, and via the net is now super affordable! I must really thank everyone, some of guitariste.com, including MR-SONELEC music (via his...
I've been working through a few amp to pedal ports, and here's the first one: the Dinky Drive. schem.gif
I pulled the schem from the Mini II thread in the AMP section of the forum to start. No changes were made other than fixing the volume control (from the original drawing in that thread). I did try other values for C9, but settled on a 130pF MICA (mostly because I'm out of 100pF ceramic ATM). So far, I'm digging it. I have only tried 2N5457's with this, so I don't know if j201 gives more...
