For a long time I've felt guilty that my pedal board didn't include a compressor. Finally, after about a year of breadboarding, I have produced a circuit that can take on a Dynacomp and win , boasting:

Up to five times more headroom than a Dynacomp
Less noise than a Dynacomp
Same available sustain as a Dynacomp
Fewer parts than a Dynacomp
Cheaper than a Dynacomp
Feedforward side chain
Possibility for all five controls
Fits in 1590B
Millennium bypass

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve made the first Pelota delay: from the very name, it was a circuit inspired by a few popular PT2399 delays, such as the Rebote series, the Deep Blue Delay, and many others that aren’t that different to be worth mentioning.

Even then, with my more limited experience and knowledge, I knew I could try to do better, starting from the awful, noisy, high resistance inverting input stage you find in the vast majority of them that makes you wonder who did it first...

The Fulltone OCD has been an overdrive favourite for many years now. It's got a really nice tone when your amp is set right (I prefer it with Marshalls I must say). Well, I've always thought about modifiying the basic circuit (which itself is based around the old Voodoo Labs Overdrive) to give it a little more variety and use over a wider spectrum of tones.

As you can see the Super OCD has a few extra controls:

- Firstly the Bass control - it's nicked from Paul C's Timmy pedal...

This is my first attempt at PCB design. I chose a simple circuit and followed along to DigiKey's KiCad tutorials. . The One Chip Pony only does one trick—and it only uses one chip!

Clown color hydro-dip finish felt appropriate.

Maybe it looks a little silly in such a large enclosure, but I needed the extra room for the giant knob! This layout was designed specifically to accommodate the knob and switch, and also to be easy to troubleshoot.

An input gain stage feeds a comparator....

This is NOT a beginner's project.
This was traced from a recent B K Butler pedal and has the bias pot modification which alters the voltage on the cathodes of the 12AX7 tube.
You will need a suitable 12vAC power pack for this pedal - the original has a small toroidal mains transformer fitted internally near the front of the case.

I’ve always liked phasers, in fact one of my first pedals I’ve ever built was a Phase 45 clone. Not only I liked how it sounded, another main reason for choosing it (other than the complexity) was that I only needed two matched JFETs instead of, for example, four for a four-stage phaser.

Hi. I still want to make a sustainer for my guitar.
I bought a single coil to use as a sustainer and some wire to wrap the coil to the required resistance.

Is the best value for a sustainer coil 8 ohms?

And I have questions, what amp should I try to use?

In the most famous page on the subject, the author uses a Fetzer/Ruby amp

Hi folks,
it's already nearly two years ago, when I bought my first pedal kit and made my first steps in building my own effects.
Since I have not so much time to practice i'm still a noob but i'd like to upload a circuit I've been working on.
I wanted to build my own noisegate and on my way I stumbled across some circuits to get started, but none of them really satisfied me completely.
Most of them suffer on an unnatural decay behaviour at higher release times.

Long story short, I ended up testing and measuring a good part of all odd diodes I have had accumulated over the decades of tinkering.
Some are modern, widely available, some are more rare and not produced anymore, germanium, silicon, including Schottky, silicon carbide, Zener, LEDs, IR, etc.
Here are the graphs, showing the forward voltage drop for a given current (I-V curve) for different types of diodes. Hope this is helpful to anyone. All were measured using a Peak Atlas DCA75 Pro.

A good friend asked me to build a replica of the BOSS PH-1 phaser recently - he had one of these back in the 70s and always regretted selling it. It is only a four stage phaser similar to the MXR Phase 45 and consequently is a very subtle effect and similar to a mild tremolo, but this is exactly what he was looking for. I had wanted to make a compressor circuit for a long time, because it's a popular and somewhat easy to make effect, but the existing DIY offer left something to be desired. You should be ready to accept some compromise, in the form of: noisy and hard to find OTA chips; expensive and hard to find (in THT at least) VCA chips; hard to find (again in THT) and fiddly JFETs; circuits that underperform in some way or another, or; circuits that aren't well translated to instrument input and stompbox...

I'm posting this here for the benefit of the community. It's my own idea of what a Rockman headphone amp should be like, made with modern, easily available components. It is intentionally not an exact clone of any specific Rockman model, because my aim right from the beginning was to make it better. Hi to all.
Fuzzface has undergone so many modifications, so only mine is missing :D
I set out to redo the fuzzface in a way that would be easy to repeat and not sound as sharp as the silicon transistors. Therefore, I decided to add zener diodes between the base and the collector and it softened the sound. Also, the capacitor at the input is also of reduced capacity so that there is no excess of low frequencies.

This is a very simple buffered splitter project. You can use it to create two equal outputs for your guitar or another pedal. This is handy for running a stereo amplifier setup, splitting a single signal into two effects pedals, or any of several other applications in which you need to have two equal, buffered outputs. Several of you have been asking about these, so here's the first pass at some add-on projects for analog delays. These have been tested on madbean's Aquaboy prototype and the Aqua Puss project boards, and should work for any similar circuit (DM-2, AD-80, etc). These were tested with the MN3005, but should also work on madbean's Aquaboy if you're using the V3205, since polarity switching is handled on the main board (but I have not tested with the 3205).

-reducing the number of components as much as possible. I think there's beauty and elegance in simple things, and if I can get away with it or have a good reason to, I like to use less components

Hi to everyone,
today I posted a new project on my website, after four years of silence...
I took a standard Double Muff and added a lot of features, such as individual gain setting for each amplifier stage, a tone control, output buffer for volume recovery and a trimmer to avoid volume difference when switch between modes.

In case of copyright issues, I'll remove it from my site, but the design I posted is no longer a standard Double Muff...

Hi all,

My first try at tracing a circuit and third layout.
The circuit has an input + buffered output and an xlr ofc.
Versatile as it can be powered 9-16VDC or by phantom power.

The layout is verified , as I built it a few hours ago and works perfectly !
