I am interested in building a pedal and wonder if a compressor would be a good idea.

I’m a relative newbie to this so appreciate any advice on what type to get that’s not too difficult to make. Ideally a compressor with a mix knob

So I've been trying to design my own compressor for guitar purposes.

I took the Moritz Klein eurorack compressor as a jumping off point. It uses diodes as a the control element and all in all is pretty clever. I've attached a schematic.

I've follower this schematic (reference from datasheet TDA2050) to build a single channel dual IC bridge power amplifier, dual supply.

For everyone that struggle to understand why they wont achieve max output power, voltage limit must be reach and I think some resistor value weaks also would help.

Short story: Ive blown (I think) the ICs when i switched from low voltage dual supply from voltage divider, low current (TEST) to FULL RECTIFIER 18-0-18...

I have a guitarist friend who uses a TC Ditto+ looper pedal to store and replay his backing tracks..... But he hates having to tap twice to stop the looper.
So I built him a simple interface, to allow him to tap once to start -- and once to stop.

I decided to make an overdrive on 2n7000, because apart from Zvex SHO, I no longer met the use of these transistors in guitar circuits. The circuit is built on 3 transistors, a green LED is used for bias.

Fuzzface has undergone so many modifications, so only mine is missing :D
I set out to redo the fuzzface in a way that would be easy to repeat and not sound as sharp as the silicon transistors. Therefore, I decided to add zener diodes between the base and the collector and it softened the sound. Also, the capacitor at the input is also of reduced capacity so that there is no excess of low frequencies.

I had wanted to make a compressor circuit for a long time, because it's a popular and somewhat easy to make effect, but the existing DIY offer left something to be desired. You should be ready to accept some compromise, in the form of: noisy and hard to find OTA chips; expensive and hard to find (in THT at least) VCA chips; hard to find (again in THT) and fiddly JFETs; circuits that underperform in some way or another, or; circuits that aren't well translated to instrument input and stompbox...
