Original Tracer Layouts A collection of original layouts for vintage guitar effects. If you want to build real replica's of vintage pedals, this is the forum you want to look at.
This page tries to keep the available projects indexed.
If you want to share files to build a effect that's not yet (widely) available, it would be a pleasure for us to host it here.
The projects should be verified , though, and at least contain a schematic , some layout file (transfer, vero, perf) and a component layout file .
Incomplete or unverified projects will be moved to the Projects in Progress folder: if you fall upon such a project, please report the...
Micro-Foot (uF) is a MIDI foot controller designed to be entirely programmable.
I developed it using an Arduino board.
Apart from obvious constraints related to hardware and computational power of the CPU, there are no restrictions to the functionalities that can be implemented. uF can receive and send any MIDI message the developer wishes to implement.
I hope you will find it interesting.
Have fun!
Thanks to Soulsonic for reviewing the project documentation.
This is my attemp to put a Morley Bad Horsie 2 into a Cry Baby shell.
The layout fits perfectily in a standard wha shell.
Just replace the actual board for this one.
If there's something I really can's stand it's the adjusting the bias of BBD based circuits in order to tune the distortion to minimal while coping on the BBD's output. The signal is sampled and when scoping the output of a BBD one has to see the correct signal (from a sinewave generrator) through the samples. pretty tough to determine hom much distorting there's left. The rough tuning is easy but the details are not.
About 2 months ago, I started a project which transformed a BSIAB into an universal guitar preamp for DI applications , and presented it thorugh a youtube video (see link below). Now that I have received all the PCBs and the components, I'd like to share pics the build of a single channel preamplifier for my home studio. Of course, the module presented here can also be used in multi-channel configurations, for live use.
A short presentation can be downloaded here:

Okay - maybe it is not a complete ready to build project, but some members may find it useful.
I had a problem recently where I needed to illuminate an LED indicator light when a relay was switched from +5v to ground potential( relay on state to relay off state) in an overdrive circuit built in to a vacuum tube guitar amplifier.
The solution for me was to use a very common CMOS IC - the CD4069, a hex inverting buffer 8). This CMOS chip is extremely cheap - you should not have to pay more than...
Yes yes, I know, yet another frequencycentral submini tube circuit. Boring boring boring! This is the story, 'the other forum' member Toney recently stumbled across a metric ship-load of EF72 (or CV465, 5840) submini pentodes from some guy that buys military surplus. Anyhow they are 50c a piece, no kidding, and I have ordered a test batch which will arrive tomorrow. He kindly sent me a few with a challenge to design something for them, they arrived a couple of days ago. The price Toney paid per...
well here's my latest to throw in the pot. this one started out as my entry into the AC30 race, but turned into much more. it could even get tossed in with the Honey Bee pile as well as you are able to go from a cleanish boost to a light OD, to a fuzz, depending on how you set it.
there are 2 gain controls ala SoulSonic's Hunny Bunny pedal, except mine is built around a 3 tranny germanium platform using some low leakage soviet ge's with a gain range of around 40-60. the Blaster pot is the...
I've done quite a few designs using these little pentodes, and here's a trem! The tremolo speed goes from 'machine gun fast' to 'is it still on?' slow. Even slower speeds can be obtained by changing the speed pot for 47K or 100k, but for a useable range 22K or 27K is just fine. I power all my effects off a 12 volt supply, which with this effect means a decent amount of clean boost is available in addition to the tremolo. Powering it off 9 volts will give less boost.
Somebody contributed these anonymously, but the build pics make me believe it's verified. I also have an mp3 sample I might post later, have to mess with the setting to allow mp3s.
built this up the other day for late nite headphone tweak sessions. haven't given it much use yet, so i can't comment on it's worthiness, but the layout does work. i stuck it in an old baby monitor i picked up at goodwill. should be a helpful little gadget for recording as well.

This is the audio path of the Tremulus Lune with the LFO from the EA tremolo. The LFO is the modded version from GGG with the LED like the BYOC version and a couple of mods I made.
I used the Burr Brown OPA 2134 and it sounds fantastic.
The depth controls the brightness of the LED but not the ratio of bright to dark so it isn't really a depth, it's more like an external volume knob. I really like the sound of the OPA 2134 when it gets a bit gritty. I like fast overdriven tremolo for that...
here's something i churned out the other day. i have been thinking about modeling the Supro Thunderbolt with FETs, but then thought- i just got in these cool new Tesla GE's, why not use those? so that's what it is, the preamp section of the legendary amp used by Page and supposedly Hendrix, done up NPN germanium style. i had to eliminate a few resistors towards the end to bring up the volume and lowered the value of an emitter resistor to up the gain a bit. also, i made the resistor on the...
Morning,
New (returning) to the forum. I have built a few circuits in my time and would like to build a few more pedals. I have been interested in building a Tube Driver type pedal for some time. Is there anyone who can furnish the pc boards for the Bajaman Real Tube Overdrive? I'm good with a schematic and soldering iron but I do not have the equipment to etch boards.
Thanks!
I don't know if this will work, but here's how this came about: I was working out a schem for an octave effect, drawing waveforms to try and simulate what would happen here and there within the circuit, when I stumbled on the idea of differencing the input fundamental with a square wave of the same frequency. The idea is that with the sine and square levels equal, the difference between them will be a sort of crazy octave up mosquito like sound. At different settings, various other tones should...
Here is a schematic for using Don Tilman's pre-amp in an A/B and Loop box. Yes it's simple, but my first contribution - don't be too harsh please. May have been done a dozen times before.
The 2 pole switch is for choosing to either enter the box from the A/B sides, as in with two guitars, or from the regular input side. It brings the pre-amp in front of the effects loop either way.
For simplification you could simply have the pre-amp on at all times and eliminate that switch.
I am putting...
Here's the project based on Arsenio's TubeSoundOverdrive circuit.
I decided to give it a name, that some time ago my friend came up with, a good name for mid gain, very ampy and touch sensitive pedal :)
So, here it is:

Well, here's a great sounding true Vibrato circuit.
This is the finalized version The volume drop issues that some
experienced with weaker FETS has been addressed and now a trimpot
is on the output to control the level of the engaged effect.
I thought I may as well post it in this section here as I have been Banned over at diystompboxes.
I had to build a simple little preamp boost thing quickly for a customer the other day. I just threw together some random parts on the breadboard real quick and came up with something nice. I call it the Last Minute Boost because I came up with it at the last minute. Here's the scheme and the finished board:
Here are some up-close shots of the board. I used a trimmer for the gain control because this was intended to be stuck inside a guitar as a little preamp with the gain pre-set.
