Original Tracer Layouts A collection of original layouts for vintage guitar effects. If you want to build real replica's of vintage pedals, this is the forum you want to look at.
This page tries to keep the available projects indexed.
If you want to share files to build a effect that's not yet (widely) available, it would be a pleasure for us to host it here.
The projects should be verified , though, and at least contain a schematic , some layout file (transfer, vero, perf) and a component layout file .
Incomplete or unverified projects will be moved to the Projects in Progress folder: if you fall upon such a project, please report the...
Hi all,
This is my first time I have actually come up with something semi original and posted it. It is an LM 386 Drive that started out as a GES Boost Machine then I played with the inputs and decided to the a replica of the Lovepedal Purple Plexi 800 but I decided to do some more mods to make it more of something to my taste and now it is a very different sound now, in my ears anyway. Take a look. I have bread boarded it and later this week I will perf board it. Let me know what you think...
I conceived an ovedrive with 3 gain mods, a cool ovedrive for all stuff like Cream , hendrix , zz top , stoner rock (nebula, QSTA ), blues ect....
So the schematic
You can also just put a simple tone control like proco rat (it works well too)
As you can see it's just a tubescreamer gain stage with a kind of boost stage after it. The two extrem side of switch connect a resistor in parallel with the one of 1M, It reduces gain. Also, It creates a high pass filter with the little...
MarkM had a great layout for this one, but i wanted the option to use trimpots so i could use it as a knob free booster driving a distortion on a switch. layout provides for either trimmers or regular pots, and i shrunk the original layout a bit too.
As BJ says it's all for fun. Nick at NOC3 did the initial PCB work and I drew the schematic in english. The schem adds some clipping options and a pop filter for the LED (Thanks Nick). For those that don't like to roll your own I am doing a PCB and component kit. Might be nice if someone did a perfboard layout as well.
Okay, so I'm not sure this qualifies as being original, but I recently finished up my own version of what *started off* as my take on a scaled-down Fuzz Factory. I dropped the Gate and Stability controls because I never use them, and changed the values of the Bias (COMP) and Fuzz (DRIVE) controls. Also, I wanted to make the parts layout include only components that could be had relatively easy and/or relatively cheap. That means silicon transistors. The end result does not quite sound like the...
I was going through some old floppy discs last night and found this. I don't have much time available at the moment, but if someone would like to breadboard this and see what happens, please be my guest.
It is a dual triggered filter, using the envelope generator from the EH Space Drum adapted for the LM13600.
Hi all, been lurking here for awhile and thought Id share. This is nothing revolutionary, just a great sounding wah with TL071 op amp output buffer, adjustable Q and a 6 way rotary switch for voicing caps. Figured the layout might save someone some time.
Hello, this weekend I built a JFET boost based on my modifications to Analogguru's JFET boost schematic. It works great, so I am now presenting it to the community as the first DIY article on my new site!
Check it out:
This is a step-by-step tutorial complete with layout and schematic for building on perf board. It also includes instructions on the perf board building technique, so I highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't built on perf before and especially to anyone just starting out....
Here's a PCB project that's sort of a cross between an early Gainster and a Red Snapper. You can also build a three knob Gainster or a four knob Snapper with this layout. I got much of the information I needed from this forum. In particular, I'd like to acknowledge JHS here, and I'd also like to thank gaussmarkov for his fantastic Eagle library.
Check out some great discussion on the Gainster here:
The next offering in the L'Overdrive de la Révolution Series is here! Trois!
It's a light overdrive/boost effect (There isn't a great amount a clean headroom here though) utilizing a Jfet stage running into some germanium clippers all cascaded into a common Mosfet gain stage. It's a very dynamic and resposive circuit, I wanted it to be controllable from your guitars volume and tone pots, goals which it definatly scores!
Thought I would make a seperate thread for this, stop clogging up the flatline thread.
Anyway, here's my optical compressor!
As you can see it looks nothing like the flatline anymore. This is an old scheme, some of the values have be tweaked but until I look at my breadboard I can't remember which ones! It can do all sorts - mild compression to full out swell squish 8)
You can see the changes that have been made below. Thanks to AG for showing me the way 8)
This came up over at Aron's forum and I whipped up this workalike real quick. It's based on the description of the original unit.
I'm not sure what the deal is with the differential outputs, but they're there like on the original if anyone has need for that.
I might do some kind of layout for it. I'm not real big on doing layouts though, so if anyone else does one that's fine with me.
Enjoy,
