Hello. I was wondering if anyone knew any possible Peavey Mace mods. I picked one of these up REALLY cheap and its got a pretty solid sound. Only problems I have with it is that the mids get really boxy sounding and fairly unappealing when turned up past 3. Also the pre amp overdrive is pretty fuzzy when turned up too high. Also the bass gets really muddy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Just wondering why, when my twin has been on for maybe a couple of hours, the power bulb starts to dim alot? The amp has just been fully serviced and re-tubed by a very reputable amp tech who says he can find no fault. It's no big deal, I dont need a light to tell me when this amp is on lol but just curious as to why it does it. Something to do with when the amp starts heating up I think, tried another build but still the same.
I am currently modding a friends Buddah Super drive 18 with a mod the factory supplied me with. My friend also asked for an indicator on his channel switcher....... I tried adding a simple LED but I found out the channel swicher uses 1/2 heater voltage to control the channel (=3.12V AC). Is there a simple way to add an indicator to this line???
I was so lucky to be able to pick up a small 15W WEM head. It sounded already good before, but changing most of the old caps for new high-end caps did away with some high end sizzle and gave me much mo' bass.
I found the schematic , will make notes about the actual values found in the amp when I can find back my notes.
Did pay much, came with a speakerless pick a bass cab, but I'm testing it now on two 80s stock Fender speakers in series (needs 16 ohm)
MoreCowbell was posting up a bunch of links to Yerasov pedals, so I started looking around at the rest of the sight and found their amp section. This one caught my eye - it has some clever tricks and it's worth checking out. I love the attenuated output jacks labeled, Day , Evening , Night .
Awesome.
Check it out!
It's my first post aroud here, and it's embarrasing that it can't be a contribution in some way but I will greatly appreciate if someone could give me a hand with this;
I have a Marshall 50 watt 'plexi' (I think the right Model is 1987X) that has some serious hum and ghost notes. I changed the big filter can-caps, and the little electrolytic ones inside the amp; no improvement. I checked the tubes, they're balanced, there's no big difference between the two. I replaced every...
Can somebody tell me approximate value of voltage gain of circuit above ( Ideally with some calculation-steps break-down :)). All caps are 47nF, Vcc around 300V.
i've been wanting to do the noisy cricket for some time now, and since i don't read schematics that well yet, i was glad to see the vero-layout for the noise cricket mkII
I'm looking for information on Grid-Leak-Biasing .
I searched the web and found these links:
they're interesting and educating, but very theorertical aswell.
Has anyone a bit more practical information on the topic?
Is it really that unpredictable, or am I missing something?
I need to calculate the amplification-factor of a parallel grid-leak-biased 6N1P.
As the nominal amplification-factor of the 6N1P is stated with 33 i'm not even sure if it could be done with this tube,...
ATTENTION: I'm not asking for schematics. Though I wouldn't mind.
I LOVE John Mayer's tone. Seems he's using his Signature Two-Rock amp - which is a Custom Reverb Sig amp with some mods. I've seen him also with a Bassman (Victoria, not Fender, I think).
What are these Two-Rock amps based on?
Completely new design?
Or something based on the Fender eras? Blackface, Brownface?
These amps seem to have the headroom of a Blackface, but not as bright or as cold . They seem more hot (though...
Are you ready to get nuts....by looking at these guts ?:
Here is the accompaining text:

I bought a chassis from ebay really cheap to be my first tube project,
ebay link basically the power transformer is kicking out too high Voltages. the guy selling it said B+ needed dropped (using a 470R 10w after the rectifier diodes) I measured the voltage on mine and got 430v, so have left that for the minute...... the problem I have is the heater secondary is 8.5v and needs dropped I was told on PPwatt.com that two resistors of 0.33r or 0.47r would drop it down to an acceptable range , I...
Hi. Anyone have schematics of this amplifiers? I have Classic with wrong working Lead channel. So any info will be very helpful to tweak it right or mod for Ultra Lead specs.
