i'd like to show you the amp i'm working on the last few months.
The aim was to build an amp using the least parts count possible, but including some unusual details making it some kind of special among others.
It's not as simple as a Champ and i had to compromise with the powersupply and the output-transformer aswell as with the chassis as i took them from an old DIY-amp bought on evilbay for about 100€.

Very soon I'll post internal shots of CAE OD 100 classic. Anoyone have schematics of this amplifiers (or od100 standard)? Is more difficult to trace the schematic from pictures (duble sided PCB...).

I was going to make a guitar amp out of this but the PT is bad :( Funny it worked okay when I got it a month or so ago, but smoked when I pluged it in the other day to check voltages. Oh well... bought it cheap at a yard sale and the organ is air operated so it still works.

The unmarked pot (tone control?) was mounted on the back, I lost the sticker but it was labled something like adjust for Hall / Room size.
Inductors have no markings that I can see.
Volume pot was...

The LA2A is supposed to be THE compressor - some have built solid state versions of it too :wink:

What first, the Matamp or the Hottube ?

The Matamp has a complicated interesting switching system...

The Hottube has V1: 150k, V2: 220k, V3: 220k, V4: 220k collector resistors, between V2 and V3 is a 22k resistor and between V3 and V4 a 5k6 resistor in the power-supply rail. On V3 the bypass-cap at the cathode has a trimmer in series to adjust the gain. DC-heating....

The only uncommon at the first view seems to be the use of stereo-potentiometers.
