Introduction
Eagle CAD offers the best value for individuals and small businesses. However some of its user interface features are different from what we normally expect. For those of us who layout boards occasionally, it is an effort to relearn the Eagle CAD each time we come back to it. I have tried to document the Eagle CAD user interface idiosyncracies here to make it easier to do PCB layou with it.
Written by me. It's free and will remain so. I'm calling it a Beta until I receive enough feedback that it is being used OK with no problems.

There is no installer. Just unzip to a folder and run the exe.
I recommend following the in-built tutorial under Help->Tutorial.
As you may or may not know, I've been working on the brand new DIYLC for quite a while. Other projects didn't leave enough free time, so it went slowly.
Anyways, I think it's ready to be shown to the world to get some feedback from you guys. The archive can be downloaded from this address
The main site is and there is a semi-finished documentation that may be helpful. If you think that something should be added to explain some features better, please let me know. I made it, so...
hey guys,
I would love to do something other than handdrawn schematics, and do some nice looking ones like I see in the boutique section here. Does anybody know of any software for Mac OSX that is free or at least relatively cheap? I don't need to do fancy, just enough for overdrive boxes.
thanks!
btw, if there is some for PC that is free and very(!) good, I'd like to hear about that as well, because I can run Windows on my G4, but would prefer just a Mac program.
I've recently built 2 stomps (a BSIAB2 and a Guv'nor). I would like to design the graphics for the labels and I would like to ask which software you recommend.
I've heard of front panel designer . Is it any good?
how about Adobe Illustrator?
I've also seen baja's great looking label for the voodoo vibe. It would be great to know how it was done.
It's Jordi, I'm the developer of ImageToPCB, not sure if any of you are familiar with the software. Summarizing it allows to convert images to gerber and drill files ready to send to a PCB manufacturer.
Recently a user made a video showing how she combines DIY Layout Creator and ImageToPCB so I thought about posting here as it might be of interest for the community.
Hey - I had some time between jobs to kill, and after building several circuits from PedalPCB I've started learning PCB design with KICAD by building open-source versions of classic effect circuits. I'm trying to get one put together a week, focusing on classic drive and fuzz circuits with only minor modifications while breadboarding (with some luck, the pace will slow down again once my day job starts up again). I thought I'd share what I've gotten up to so far in case it's interesting to...
I've built a SPICE model so I can play with clock, bias, and filter circuits for BBD projects. It seems to perform pretty close to a real one, though I have drawn only 8 stages to keep simulation times practical. The biasing and distortion behavior seem pretty close to Panasonic datasheets for 32xx series. Being 8 stages, the delay time is very small, but does visibly change with clock rate as expected. The capacitive load simulates a 3205 (4096 stages), but can be easily adjusted.
If a moderator wants to delete this thread for not being stompbox related then I totally understand.
Could you please let me know your specific reasons though?
Why am I posting this here?
[] I don't think that posting this to a computer-related forum would succeed - business interests would prevent it from seeing the light of day.
[] This forum supports the free exchange of information AFAIK.
[] It might benefit some forum members that use Windows Media Player.

So I had a few hours to waste and made a BoM and CPL creator in Excel to automate the file creation proces for SMT fabrication at JLCPCB.
You can export the component list as txt file from Sprint Layout and press convert in the Excel to open a file selection dialog window.
The order of the fields in the export txt is irrelevant as the file will detect them by itself. The only thing you need to take note of is the delimiter (by default a semicolon) and if you want to add the component numbers...
Ok, stupid poll maybe, but I'm curious.
What is your preferred PCB design software.
Whether it be for etching your own PCB's or having the made for you.
Also, maybe include pros and cons of each.
Currently I use DIYLC and etch my own boards, but will be having them made in the very near future.
Eagle seems to have a steep learning curve.
I tried ExpressPCB and PCB123 awhile back. Can't recall how easy or useful they were.
Ok, so I'm also looking for suggestions on what to use for having them...
Total newbie here. Never used a PCB layout app in my life. I can read schems, I can build some electronic devices and paint by number DIY pedals. I'm pretty good at soldering and reworking. But I've never delved into PCB layout apps.
Here's my question:
Can PCB layout software/apps now take a schematic and Automatically create a PCB layout from it? If so do free apps do this? Do any do this? Is it possible? I get that there will always be constraints. Like: I/O placement, PCB shape, footprint...
For all you UV enclosure printers out there, I made a small Adobe Illustrator file with all the current Tayda enclosure colors. This way you can check if the enclosure color matches your design. I used the official Pantone codes as I have a trial subscription to Pantone Connect. Hope it helps you and that you enjoy it.
Last week I put together a small application to play around with simple waves and audio.
wavedemo.PNG
Features
You can enter frequency, duration, amplitude, and shape to specify a wave. When you hit the add wave button, that wave is saved and added to the sum of all the waves you've specified so far.
The wave (and optionally the individual constituent waves) is plotted along with the frequency content. This sum is written to a wav file and played.
Does anyone have the gaussmarkov eagle library? When I search the internet, I will be redirected to this site: gaussmarkov.net/wordpress/tools/software/eagle/eagle-2-libraries/
But the link is dead.
I hope someone can help me out.
Duncan's TSC has been a fantastic resource for me in terms of designing amps but it is constrained by its roots in Delphi and so is difficult to update with more stacks. I don't know what the simulation engine is TSC but I had been wondering about using a version of Spice coupled to a similar UI and I've created a QT based homage to TSC using ngspice. Spice makes it very easy to create new stack models and play with the parameters and the plots I've got tally well with those of TSC. I've...
I've searched high and low and cannot for the life of me find a footprint for a stomp switch that has the proper oval drill holes to keep the switch correctly aligned. I've seen PCB's done with the correct oval holes so it must be possible. Has anyone got one or any ideas?!
Thanks :)
