I've recently noticed that Tim's great site at is coming up as a virus, trojan horse, or other bad things in my browser. So I thought I'd grab all the circuit images and zip them up for safe keeping. I have emailed him in the recent past, but there has been no reply. :hmmm:

For a long time I've felt guilty that my pedal board didn't include a compressor. Finally, after about a year of breadboarding, I have produced a circuit that can take on a Dynacomp and win , boasting:

Up to five times more headroom than a Dynacomp
Less noise than a Dynacomp
Same available sustain as a Dynacomp
Fewer parts than a Dynacomp
Cheaper than a Dynacomp
Feedforward side chain
Possibility for all five controls
Fits in 1590B
Millennium bypass

Im an expert of diy and electronic diy and Ive succesfully made more than 30 effects and some amps.

Whats going on with SHO??
Maybe my chinese supplier gave me fake BS170? Maybe almost all SHO schemes are wrong?

The problem is... volume. It seems that voltage supplied is too less even at 15V.
I barely hear something ONLY if I push 2 Tubescreamer is series into SHO (forced FET by large input voltage signal)

Ive made 5 times this circuit and every time this...

I recently bought a Snarling Dogs Whine-O Wah and it's absolutely amazing. It's the best sounding Wah I ever tried.
But it's really really noisy!
So I replaced all the resistors (with metal film) and the caps with better ones, but no appreciable result.
Next step is to eliminate the extremly loud (probably LED caused) pop-noise.

I love this wah, but I also hate it. It's soooo noisy!! :cry:
Does somebody has ideas for troubleshooting or a solution :D ??

Like the F1x, was browsing and recalled that I actually bought the schematic for the Alembic onboard dual filter preamp (older version of the series onboard electronics, I think).
I'll post it here for posterity.
Quite elaborate, these basses have two pickups and a dummy coil, which needs to be carefully adjusted. They also have a second order low pass filter per pickup, with either a switch or a pot for Q . In the old days, they used a separate outboard power supply, not sure if that is still...

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you the long awaited reverse of what some consider as the best chorus ever made.
It's taken from an original 80's version. I can't tel if the actually made SCF is the same or if there are revisions of the old one

BUT some will have to work a little on it : it was already a hellish work for me to put all that on tracing paper (and did some retouching with graphic editor) and lets say I'm not in the mood to finish all that in any CAD especially considering...

Hello future home to my serious nerdy mind :)

I'm pretty new to circuitry. I have built some kits and recently re-housed and modified a JHF1 Dunlop Fuzz Face. Works awesome. I'm a germanium transistor collector and have learned a bunch over the past year. I just bought a Newmarket Transistor amplifier circuit (pre-made) from the 60's. The Reverb ad said something about being a Deacy amp. It has a basic schematic diagram for the wiring but I've tried a bunch of different things an I can't get...

I saw some speculation that the Caline White Heat was a DOD Overdrive Preamp 250, so I found a schematic and compared it to the circuit board, but it I see no potential for it to be a DOD 250, most especially because there is only one diode on the entire circuit board. All of the schematics I've looked at to date involved at least two diodes for clipping, and another one or two in the power supply section. In this pedal it looks like the one and only diode is in power supply section. I'm hoping...

Hi, gang!
For this post, I present a mystery! I have a fully populated FX PCB w/ connected pots that I would like to identify. The only marking is JCW (or perhaps JCW II), and 1983. As you can see in the pictures, the board features a couple NE5532 dual op-amps. I think the two nice sealed pots (both 10K-S, 1/8 shaft) might be original, but the two dual 100K pots probably aren't. I seem to remember Radio-Shack selling that exact same dual 100K (41-step detent, 40% tap). Let me know what you...

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve made the first Pelota delay: from the very name, it was a circuit inspired by a few popular PT2399 delays, such as the Rebote series, the Deep Blue Delay, and many others that aren’t that different to be worth mentioning.

Even then, with my more limited experience and knowledge, I knew I could try to do better, starting from the awful, noisy, high resistance inverting input stage you find in the vast majority of them that makes you wonder who did it first...

Hi to all.
Fuzzface has undergone so many modifications, so only mine is missing :D
I set out to redo the fuzzface in a way that would be easy to repeat and not sound as sharp as the silicon transistors. Therefore, I decided to add zener diodes between the base and the collector and it softened the sound. Also, the capacitor at the input is also of reduced capacity so that there is no excess of low frequencies.

Peavey, Pavey, Pevy, or is it Pee-vee? One of my favorite amplifiers is still to this day the Peavey Bandit 112 I was gifted for a birthday. That was my first actual guitar amplifier, but even after having the chance of playing and owning fancier, more expensive, more tube amplifiers, I still come back to this one once in a while. Having made a cab sim, I thought it would be nice to have a pocket size version of the pre-amplifier to use with it without bringing the whole amplifier with me....

Here's a trace of a J. Rockett Tim Pierce signature OD that I had on hand. It's a dual pedal with a four-knob OD followed by a MOSFET power amp boost. This PCB is stenciled rev 5 and the pedal dates from 2015. This post is mostly for curiosity's sake since I couldn't find an existing trace. It's a decent but not spectacular pedal and there's nothing innovative inside.

Old Blood Noise Endeavors - Haunt Fuzz v1 tracing. This came from an early pedal with low double-digit serial number in a light blue enclosure.

Notes:
1) Enclosure labels for 'Low' and 'Mode' appear to be reversed. Documentation states that 'mode' switches between two different silicon transistors.
