I've recently noticed that Tim's great site at is coming up as a virus, trojan horse, or other bad things in my browser. So I thought I'd grab all the circuit images and zip them up for safe keeping. I have emailed him in the recent past, but there has been no reply. :hmmm:
Attached is a zip file of ALL of the effects circuits from his site.
Rock on, and may the creative spirit of the Great Escobedo be with you always. :thumbsup
For a long time I've felt guilty that my pedal board didn't include a compressor. Finally, after about a year of breadboarding, I have produced a circuit that can take on a Dynacomp and win , boasting:
Up to five times more headroom than a Dynacomp
Less noise than a Dynacomp
Same available sustain as a Dynacomp
Fewer parts than a Dynacomp
Cheaper than a Dynacomp
Feedforward side chain
Possibility for all five controls
Fits in 1590B
Millennium bypass

Anybody know of a pin-equivalent replacement for the IC1 in the vintage version of this pedal? 1, 2, & 3 have the numbers scraped, but I believe them to be RC4149s based on random schematics. According to the schematic, it could also be an XR4212 but based on anything I've found that's a 14 pin IC. The one in the pedal I have is 16.
I have a long secret relationship with cab sims. I'm talking about analog cab sims, the ones that aren't anything more than a very specific equalizer. I know that digital and IR cab sims exist and are very popular, and can account for other characteristics of a guitar loudspeaker, but those are both outside my interests and my capabilities. I think a glorified filter can be very effective indeed for playing without a speaker and a microphone, quietly or not, and surely its hardware, being...
Hi to all. I wanted to make some kind of guitar overdrive or distortion on 2n7000 field effect transistors again, but the power supply should be 18V - so the sound is more dynamic. And something like this came out after some modifications:
Hi guys,
I found a VT BASS DI with some issues and before repair it I decided to trace it.
Actually I removed all thru hole components in order to see better the tracks.
Here you can find the first gut shots.
In the next days I will start write down the schematic
All the VR are 100kB, all IC are TLC2262 except a 4013 and the module is CH34-9.
Inspired by the MI Audio Boost 'n' Buff, maybe even a workalike (I haven't seen a schem for that one, so who knows). Simple op-amp boost with gain variable from 1 to 11, SPST makes it just a buffer (gain of 1). Low output impedance at all settings, high input impedance, easy to mod for your needs.
Anybody looked under the hood to see what compressor VGA\VCA this thing is using? And where they put Rupert's littlr tranny in the circuit? And what kind of EQ they're using before and after the Tranny?
this is first post here on this forum, I hope I'm doing this right.
Since nobody seems to have done this before and I was sick in bed for a week recently, I used that time to trace the schematics of the SansAmp PSA-1. One tiny part is missing and that's the mystery circuit inside the black box used for the CRUNCH and DRIVE. I assume it's based around yet another 072 dual opamp since there are +5V/-5V going into the black box. Anybody with an x-ray?
After showing you a couple of not-clones, here's a more original circuit I'm proud of. It's a parametric mid frequency eq with also bass and treble controls.
I think equalizers are very very powerful effects, altough they shouldn't be overestimated when post production is an option. Usually diy-ing a graphic eq is hindered by the amount of controls needed for a decent amount of bands, being them pots or worse, sliders. So I wanted to look for an alternative, and one which didn't feel like a...
does anybody have a schematic of the maxon/ibanez af-9 ? i´m curious to see how it differs from the mutron. i know there is an afl schematic, but are they the same (with the omitting of the hp setting on the afl) ?
does anybody have the baja schematic for active pickups??, id would like to try it but i have seen many different sch everywhere, so im looking for it in here, if BAJA can tell me will be amazing, looking for the EMG81, also if anybody have the LM4250 on smd eagle library its welcome too
Hey all, picked up this preamp last week. Came to me with a pretty bad crackle/hiss. Haven't sorted that out yet, but I did up a schematic.
I verified the transistor pinouts and gain with a DCA55.
Diodes are 1N7xx, forward voltage is 0.78V.
Enjoy and feel free to ask questions.
