I´ve got a ROG Thor that I love for detuned Kings`X style rythm guitar.
As I found the bright switch to be too bright, I added a 470k resistor in series with the cable coming back from the bright cap.
Sounds perfect!
(I also tried a 220k resistor which might be better for darker sounding amps. I haven´t tried larger resistors than 470k, but I suppose that it will work as well. Might be perfect for a fender twin  )
Hi, I'm looking to see if I can track down any of Jake's designs. I've built a Blue Magic and I like it, and I'm ready to start on and have heard clips of the SuperNova. (Both of those from GGG)
I've also got the Earthshine package (unsure of the origin of this one, but same layout as the above two)
Are there any more? Google has not been my friend in this case.
Is Jake still active in the stompboxes community? Last I hard he was working as a psychologist (there's a fine line, really! :? )...
In that case, would you mind posting your Meteor schematic? Or someone else? I've wanted to build the full 5-knob version for awhile now, but I can't find the schematic, and general guitar gadgets hasn't been selling the PCBs as far as I can tell.
This is the schematic for the buffered A/B/Y pedal you can see in my build blog. I've built a couple of them for friends... does it's job good.
Since there's only two output, you really only need to have a polarity switch on one of them, but I guess having it on both allows for possibilities in any given situation. The biggest reason for the polarity reverse is to help match the sound when using two amps with different polarity outputs; like when you mix a tweed Bassman with a JTM45; or when...
as an albini fan, I must build one of these. All the info on the internet disputes any factual schematics. If I can build even a very similiar sounding circuit that would be cool. ideas anyone?
I did try the harmonic jerk and it was weird. similiar but way off. so that was a no go.
I proto-ed a HC years ago. It sounded good but I had problems with biasing due to the IC I was using IIRC. I don't remember the chip or much about the details. Not sure if I had the zener either. I'll give it a try again sometime. It's an elegant design- look ma, no clipping diodes...
I'll let you in on a secret...
If you have the schem, check out the Sweet Thing tone control... (hint, hint.. )
I don't have that schem posted any more. I'll see if I can hunt it up and put in my diystomp...
This was my FX-X entry for June of '07.
Simple 1 FET Booster circuit that uses a 2N5952.
This is a great way to use up FETS that don't match for Phasers and the VibraTone build! :P
I like the sound of this one myself although it lost the contest!!
Today I had two hours of free time, so i designed a circuit...
i got to say that i don't know how it sounds
i just had the idea of distortion box with one germanium PNP and a FET each driven by an OpAmp with a blend pot between these two circuits
i added a big muff pi tone control and a millenium bypass
anyone who wants to build that?
i have no time to do it
Here's my take on the National Semi circuit.
I also have been informed that this is the same circuit as the
Bad Bob Booster.
I'm not sure, I don't really care however, It sounds GREAT!
I scored some old pieces of military equipment, among other things, that had 10 Ge npn's and 10 pnp Ge's as well. I only tested for hfe and the npns are 130-185 with one at 280 so i decided to build a Ge woolly mammoth with a couple of 'em. I made it the same as my other ones (yea,i have a few variations) with just tone and vol,and a bias trim.
the pnp's are 50-111 hfe,i cant identify them as the markings are not bringing up any results with datasheets or google. The npn's i know are texas...
Anyone got any ideas towards converting the Tremulus Lune to operate on a FET setup as a variable resistor rather than requiring the fairly expensive optocoupler?
This has been bugging me so much! I just can't figure this one out - I've tried all sorts of setups but the correct one is avoiding me like the plague!
Heres an idea I was toying with, basically its a electra distortion into a mosfet boost and then into another electra. I cut/pasted the schematic together
I can redraw it if I am violating something but using someone elses picture.
Is this a stupid idea?
Anything obvious that should be changed?
I have a few other ideas for it and wanted to use this as a building block
and get some input since I dont have much experience with this type of thing
Would there be any interest in something like this based on the CXA1191 chip?
Wanted to post a link but can't yet.
I have a mic wireless that if used as is sucks big time, drops a lot of highs etc(probably an impedance mismatch) but if you put a mosboost in front it works perfect, the level of the boost serves to dial the perfect SNR.
The parts count is low on both the transmitter and receiver.
I don't know if you need a license for this or not since it's an FM transmitter. The only part I have...
Hi Everyone!
trying to put some of my theory to work here and came up with this.
I've been thinking, and that is dangerous sometimes for all of us,
But, I came up with this Blendable type OD based on the OD250 type circuit that for the most part, incorporates the standard OD250 circuit along with a Clean version with no clipping diodes and a TL071 op amp.
The idea is to have the Gain control set-up similar to the Klon or The Crank using a Dual Gang pot where when one side is max, the other is...
Hey Guys,
I just wanted to add this to our DIY collection here.
This caused a couple of pissing-matches over at the other forum
when it was discovered and posted about.
