A customer wants a P-bass pickup added to his Stingray bass. I am going to use concentric pots to maximize the control of the pickups. Will using a 25k pot instead of a 50k pot be a problem for one of the EQ controls? It would be on the bass control.
Hi all gone out and spent some hard earned cash on a new axe, its an Epi but I played a Gibby too and for the price difference it had to be the Epi, beautifully set up and plays 100 times better than my pacifica I already have
I've been having trouble controlling feedback at high volumes and with a lot of gain from the bsiab2. I cover the strings with my hand and there's still feedback I think my problem is the guitar itself. It's got the 'swimming pool' route and I think this allows the pickguard to flex more than normal and it becomes microphonic.
The pickup is a Bill Lawrence and it's epoxy potted. So I don't think the pickup is the problem. When I tap the pickguard it's pretty loud.
Heres a diagram for the mods I did to my Godin Freeway Classic guitar. It can be used on just about any guitar though.
It uses a push/pull Volume pot to switch in a boost (but any circuit at all could be used of course. switching circuits is extremely easy and circuits can be switched in 1 minute or less). It also uses a push/pull Tone pot to do phase reversal for the middle single coil.
I also added humbucker sized P-90s in it (GFS Dream 90s from Guitar Fetish) in place of the humbuckers....
