My preamp in my acoustic guitar died after I put the battery in backwards. I need to replace it, and fast. Piezos have incredibly high output impedance (5+ mohm) so a buffer circuit is used to knock the impedance down to a sane level.

I tried building this circuit and while it works, it lacks any sort of bass amplification:

I didnt have a 100k resistor, so r3 is 170k. I also didnt have a .1uf, so c1 is 4.7uf. I tried raising the r2 to 5mohm and it sounded the same. v+ is 9v and vb+ is 4.5v...

Hi, new to the forum. Starting a thread on a tone circuit I've designed for a guitar I just acquired along with cheap SS amp and some other stuff. The guitar is a 2004 CII Squier Affinity Stratocaster and I'm going to mod the snot out of its controls. Previously I've tried a varitone type circuit in another guitar and didn't care for the rotary switch control, I kept getting cap popping noises when switching. I still wanted a circuit that would alter the tone by changing the tone capacitor...

I had the ATtiny working with the shift register, but when I added the IR receiver to the code the shift register did not work as desired.

I have a shift register connected to 8 LEDs and controlled by an ATtiny85. I also have a button and an IR receiver connected. The idea is to control the LEDs with my remote control using the minimal space required for an ATtiny.

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me design the wiring for my custom build solid body electric. I'm pretty good at soldering etc, but when it comes to designing the electrics, some assistance would be very helpful indeed.

Last weekend I've rewired my Gretch Electromatic Bo Diddley guitar as I personally don't really like the standard Gretsch controls of 1x volume per pup, 1x master volume and 1x master tone.

I wanted to try something like this:
* signal from each pickup into its own Fender TBX tone control
* the two pickup signals into a dual gang pot wired for 'stereo' volume panning (intended here as a single control that can cut either pickup level and does nothing at center detent)

recently I bought a cheap Telecaster copy which plays and sounds quite decent so I decided to spend some work on it. I already rewired it to a Bill Lawrence 5-Way-Switch-Wiring (Sorry, couldn't find a proper schematic - only this wiring scheme: and I must say I really dig it. The half out of phase setting sounds cool as well as the bass cut neck PU setting (quite handy if you play powerchords on the neck with full fuzz on it).

heres my issue.

i rewired my strat. i have 3 humbuckers installed. a full size seymore duncan jb in the bridge, a sd jb jr in the middle single coil slot, and a sd hot rails (??) in the single slot neck position. i have each of them going into a 3-way switch to set them up for series, single coil, parallel operation, from there the signal goes to an on off switch for each pickup. the 3 wires from that then go to the vol/tone/output.

when i wired it up, it was dead silent. ( the cavities are...

I've been getting into winding my own pickups. I was wondering if anyone has some general rules of thumb for designing neck/bridge pickups that work well together? Is it a good idea to have more turns in the bridge, or is it enough to just change magnets?

I realize it's kind of a subjective question, but wondering if anyone has some general findings that might be helpful.

I have recently bought a second hand Fernandes Zo-3 travel guitar

The electrics work fine but it only overdrives at quite loud volumes, I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to improve the overdriven sound at low volume? perhaps even add a bit of reverb, delay or chorus?
I know there are newer models and I should probably just sell it and buy one of them but where is the fun it that?

I like my P90s but can't justify 270USD (400 Aus) for a noise cancellation system when I could just buy a set of Kinman or Fralin noiseless P90s for less.

However, I wondered if anyone has built a similar system? I would consider a DIY solution.

Being a VW guy, I have been hoping to find a steal on one of the VW edition First Act guitars. Crappy as First Act might be, these guitars (that were included with the purchase of a new VW back in '06) were made to a different caliber. I wanted to get one just because of all the little VW emblems on it. I snagged one off craigslist that is like new, and the first thing I did was rip it apart.

I put a Seymour Duncan Screamin Demon in the bridge, and wanted to check out the onboard electronics...

I've had these pickups for ages and decided to use them in one of my guitars.They are black and say Charvelle in white,they have shielded wire and seem to be taller then regular SCs.
At first I thought they were stacked humbuckers but now I think they might be for use with an active pre.
They are kinda low impedance...5K-ish and sound dull and dark.
The good thing is these are dead silent,no hum no noise...great if they had any sparkle to them.
If I plug the guitar through a rack pre they sound...

I have this three position rotary switch and I was wondering if someone could help me with wiring one humbucker for series/coil split/parallel. I now how it's done with dpdt on/on/on but can't fugure out how to translate it to this rotary switch. I checked connections with my multimeter and they are as shown in the photo. Thanks.

i bought this unbranded pickup years ago on fleabay thinking it was a decent high gain rail pickup (measures 15.5, so maybe an unbranded kind of x2n or something).

but have since seen some pics of sustainer pickups as found in some freakout 1980s hair rock guitars, kramers particularly, and they seem to have either floyd rose or schaller sustainers housed in a complete brass enclosure a lot like this one.
this is severely shielded. meticulously soldered brass enclosure for back and sides...

Newbie first post here and really looking to get the group's feedback. Here is what I am trying to do:

Single coil neck pickup with a humbucker bridge. A three way switch for the pickup selector and a single switch to tap the coil of the humbucker. Single volume pot with no tone pot. Any ideas/schematics on how to do this?
