I'm new to building my own effect boxes, actually this is gonna be my first project. However I've got a question so if someone could help me out, I'd be extremely gratefull.
My problem is with interpreting the schematics, at least that's where I think it is...

This is my first post as a member after joining a few months ago. It's one of my very favorite sites for DIY guitar enthusiasts. It's fascinating to see these great stompbox effects and I can't wait to build many of these pedals. Alright, so I plan on building a SHO clone based on this:
I'm looking at some wiring diagrams over at General Guitar Gadgets and I'm not sure which to use. I was thinking one of these:

One of them has the input grounded while the other doesn't. What does this mean? And on the wiring diagram there are multiple grounds on the board while the board I want to build only has 1. Do all the ground wires just get connected to this?

Hello I'm having trouble with this switch wiring, I'm new to electronics and it's a bit difficult for me, but I'm sure you guys can help me...

It's for a tube amp but I don't think that matters. There are two different capacitors across the volume pot, and that's what I'm having trouble with. I've drawn a 4PDT switch in case it's necessary.

I am trying to repair an Ibanez SD9 with a switching problem. I have built A LOT of pedals but I have never messed with FET switching. I'm attaching a schematic of the pedal. I replaced the switch thinking that was the problem and it was not. The pedal will switch if I touch the red/white wire to ground but I have to hold it on there for a second or two before it happens. Is it possible that a FET is just reacting too slow and needs to be replaced? The momentary switch is of course a...

Hey everyone, I have a buddy with a new Orange amp. The footswitches for the amp's distortion and reverb are huge so I decided to make him some in smaller boxes. Easy enough right? The circuit is simple, basically a DPDT switch wired as a SPDT with an LED and a resistor for channel indication. Here's my problem: the LED comes on, but the channel does not change. I'm stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have an old no-name (actually a MultiVox Big Jam) EQ pedal that I'm going to rehouse with some other stuff(a boss CE-2).

To keep the CE-2 'always on' I was told to remove one of the 2 bypassing transistors (Q6/Q5). I did that and it worked. The LED stays on now (haven't tested audio throughput yet).

The EQ pedal has a similar switching system (from looking at it), and it also has a pair of trannies bunched together facing opposite ways (like the boss pedal). It also bypasses...

maybe a dumb question...
i only have single pole on/off/on switches at the moment...
can i wire a SP on/off/on switch to act like a SPDT on/on switch?
i'm building a second hearthrob with my own vero layout.
any interesting way to use the off position on an on/off/on switch with this circuit?

and a second question:
the superspeed obtainable with the switch is nice, but i can live without it.
what should i change to the circuit to ommit the switch and only leave the slower speeds on the dial?

i am new to this forum and new(ish) to DIY... so pls excuse my ignorance with the following q's:

1) in this vero layout, where is the switch? and where does it wire up to?
2) the in and out... there is only one wire... shouldnt there be two?
3) also only one wire is there for the (v. i assume the other one goes to somewhere on the switch?

I find that a lot of stuff at GEOFEX gets passed over after a while. I suspect that a lot of folks here haven't see this one:

I hate trying to solder wires when I can't get the board, pots, and jacks to hold still. So I came up with this soldering block to let me get them mostly fixed in place while I soldered in the wires.

It still doesn't strip the wires, but I do have a pair of tweezers-style thermal wire strippers which helps that particular pain.

I'll apologize up front for probably not getting my thoughts across clearly.

Let's say I have and OD and booster I want to build into the same enclosure. I want the option to run them independently or stacked. There will be two footswitches, SW1(the OD) and SW2(the booster) and I assume a toggle to choose between single or stacked. With the toggle in the single mode, when I step on SW1 the OD comes on. I want to build a new footswich for a Trace Elliot Bonneville that belongs to guy i know, i just don´t know if i will use momentary or on/off switchs. The original ones tech. info. says that they are latching switches ... :?

Well - I just woke up - read the thread - what a waste of words over nothing - some good points made, but a lot of hot air and steam as well.
The soft switching wouldn't be done with optocouplers by chance??
