Anybody got any information on that pedal? I saw a demo of it the other day and it sure sound great...I mean the Pete Thorne demo not the 1000 different chugga chugga demos.
Sound like a hot rodded TS with a MRX gate in series...from the gut shots I found I would not expect it to be a decimator circuit, the board is just so small. Of course I may be mistakin' it's all smd after all.
Is OCD just VoodooLab rippoff ( with MOSFET's instead of Si diodes) ?
I don't know - I have not seen one - but I have read that elsewhere on another forum/s - it may be true, but then it may be lies.
If you find out for sure, please let us know
Came across one of these used in NL, for big bucks, so I was intrigued (sceptic) to see what makes it tick.
Apparently they are not made anymore. TEFI has a gut shot on their website, but I found one for sale with legible markings on two IC's.
BBD based (like the Fairfield Circuitry shallow water).

simple clock, it seems, rather than the random one in the Fairfield circuitry, and some old transistor, I have some 2N3565...
Anybody looked under the hood to see what compressor VGA\VCA this thing is using? And where they put Rupert's littlr tranny in the circuit? And what kind of EQ they're using before and after the Tranny?
this is first post here on this forum, I hope I'm doing this right.
Since nobody seems to have done this before and I was sick in bed for a week recently, I used that time to trace the schematics of the SansAmp PSA-1. One tiny part is missing and that's the mystery circuit inside the black box used for the CRUNCH and DRIVE. I assume it's based around yet another 072 dual opamp since there are +5V/-5V going into the black box. Anybody with an x-ray?
I would love to build something like this. Obviously the treble boost has to be a Rangemaster. But what do you think the other germanium boost side is? The best idea I had was a Colorsound overdriver but that's not germanium. Looking for suggestions and ideas on this.
August 7th 2009: All information on the KoT has been summarized into this King of Tone project page .
Please if you want to build, have built or want to repair nor modify this pedal look into the links on project page before starting a new thread. If you find mistake, typo's, dead links or anything else that shouldn't be there, please use the Report button
i find it surprising no one has brought this one up yet?
ive always been keen to see whats under the hood..
Almost a year ago I built myself a Mudhoney clone following the stripboard layout from TagboardEffects, which follows the two schematics to be found online. But as it turned out to work quite a bit different than the original I have tried to modify my build in numerous different ways to make it work as intented. But still, it didn't sound as would like it to. But now I have bought myself an old used unit and have tried to trace it!
This is my first trace and I have yet to try building...
In the great debate for the Tracer Fund projects, this pedal has come up a couple of times. There was even a cool demo posted ( ) that really got my interest up, even though I've never really been into auto wahs. Well, I took one for the team and snagged one - just came in today.
Played around with it for about 30 minutes before I couldn't stand it anymore and had to open it up. It tracks really well, but it does take a little getting used to and you have to adjust the way you play to get the...
Hey all, just got a TS9 Tamura mod and I'm going to trace it this weekend and see what the changes are.
The IC is a Magic IC per the ad copy from a very distinct type and manufacturer of a set of TS that sounded great- ha. Anyway, there's no ID on it. Doesn't look sanded off, not sure if its coating, just a BLACK IC. I used a few normal ways to remove ink (dry erase marker followed by alcohol swab, then a fast acetone wipe) and can't even find if there WAS something on there. Honestly looks...
Probably a hard one to get details on because it was so rare. But does anyone have a Sola Sound / Rainger FX Freakenbender Tone Bender Fuzz to trace. Would love to build one of those beasts.
This exceptional fuzz is described by Keeley as a Tone Bender with gyrator-bassed active bass and treble controls (purportedly from the Boss MetalZone). It is all SMD except for the two germanium components. It sounds incredible, the EQ and bias controls offering a range of sounds unavailable in other Tonebenders I've played.
I've never done a circuit trace on anything with this quantity of SMD, but I took a lot of photos of the board should anyone want to give it a shot.
I decided to take some photos before I sell this one off. It's a cool pedal, but way too huge and expensive to keep on the pedalboard. I planned to do a full trace, but based on the switching, the inductor, transistor count/types, and the pot values, I'm confident enough this is simply a Vox transistor distortion and mid-range boost circuit straight out of the solid state amps of the 60s, with maybe some slight tweaking.
Transistors Q1-Q4 are BC548 and QD1-QD3 are 2N4125
Ok guys I did it ... I am a junior in high school and for my independent study this semester, I decided I was going to trace and analyze a 29 pedals EUNA. I have the schematic all drawn out in Eagle, there is just one thing I am not completely sure about, but I will address that as I go along.
despite only being in high school, I have built quite a few pedals from boards made by pedal PCB and that I made myself, but for this build, I wanted to try to give back to the community, learn more...
