Hi, I'm new to the forum and very new to pedal building. I recently built my first pedal. It was a kit of a Mad Professor BBBOD using a vero board layout. It works! Thing is, it distorts more than I would like.
I've read that the original BBBOD is capable of sounding clean at its lowest setting. My pedal sounds great, but there is a bit more drive than I would like, at the lowest setting. Is there a way to pull back or change the amount of distortion the pedal makes?
I'm about to build a 4ms stereo panneur (tremulus lune), I love the idea and design of the pedal except I'm worried the LED/LDR combo doesn't give me very sharp percussive waveforms. Is that true? Is there some daughter board I could build to replace this?
This looks interesting considering EVH is famous for saying he never used any sort of distortion / overdrive pedal.
The MXR design team has collaborated with Eddie Van Halen to deliver a full range of powerful saturation and hyper-driven tones right at your feet. The resulting EVH 5150 Overdrive joins hand-adjusted multi-stage MOSFETs with a full complement of controls to deliver overdriven tube-like tones and exceptional sonic flexibility through a wide variety of amps and speaker...
Hi folks, my first post here. I' from Brazil and yes, I'm girl that loves electronic studies, stompboxes, etc.
So, we have here in Brazil some cool pedals,. Why not share with you guys??
The actual Fire Power Booster is a nice clean active Bass e Treble booster. Flat response with Bass e Treble at center and Booster at minimun adjust.
There's a switch to a Dirty mode - an overdrive for sure or a clean booster.
i got one of these on ebay a few years ago, and it's still one of my faves. i'd be willing to take it apart if anyone is interested in tracing it. it'll take a little desoldering as it's wired up pretty tight. transistor no's are covered up with what looks like nail polish. i'm sure a little bit of acetone on a q-tip would let them be known. also- it's done on perf, and theres a piece of fuzzy cloth over the back of the board that'll have to be ripped...
I believe this is his so called Anniversary edition ,
it has a smaller control under the boost level that's labeled dynamics
Any guess as to what it does ? something else in the feedback loop ?
Newbie here to building I've just started building a few pedals from PCB's and kits online such as a fuzz face, TS and Bluesbreaker and a Dumbloid that all went fine and was quite pleased with my self but Im not too great at working things out from scratch..
I'm amazed at some of the things I see on here you guys are brilliant!
I had a JAM Fuzz Phrase a few years ago and sold it for bills, Havent been able to afford dropping £200 on one again and its got about £15 worth of parts...
I saw Gov't Mule the other night and Warren sounded better than ever. He was using les gain and sounded killer! I did notice the little toggle by his vol/tone knobs but didnt know what it was. Then I happend on the video of his new built in buffer/preamp
Anybody have any info on this unit?
This is a replica of what John Cutler developed for Jerry Garcia's guitars.
It's about time I contribute something to this forum. I tried myself at tracing my idiotboxeffects Blower Box. It's a great distortion box (both guitar and bass) and flavor-of-the-month over at talkbass.com. Turns out it is a RAT frontend with the Filter control replaced by a passive baxandall network. It'd be graet if someone could check the schematic against the pics or an actual unit, as this is my first trace. Anywho here is a link to the schematic and pix.
Apparently, the op amp shown is not the one that shipped with the unit. The original was sanded down to remove the markings / part number. I'll see if I can get a photo of it.
Hi all.
One of my recent aquisitions from a local musicians marketplace on the web was a Fuchs compressor in a defunct state. The seller told me that this was his second unit. The first one had started to distort with no previous warning and he got a new one through warranty. Now this second unit was working for some time (not sure how long) but then the distortion came along again. At this point he went on to purchase a current Dunlod/MXR super comp as a replacement and sold this for pennies....
Hello!
I have heard a very good pedal that's called Hotmod 800 and it's a distortion. It can emulate the evh brown sound very good. It would be nice if someone could trace that and make a schematic.
