I think it's just a treble booster using Ge transistor but the range pot seems to be different and more fun than a simple selector switch for input cap.
I just got a new pedal called a Sunkudo from Tanabe in Japan. He's the guy who did the Zenkudo and Dumkudo.
Soulsonic found out that the Zenkudo is a zendrive thats modded a bit and has a 3 way switch and his dumble setting actually uses no diodes.
Anyway, I got this new Sunkudo Fuzz. It has 3 AC 128's and is in the same enclosure as the zenkudo.
The controls are volume, tone gain and Led. The led is a brigtness level knob. He said it was a joke . I bet he had 4 knob cases and...
Thanks to JehuJava for letting me have at his Resonator. Here's the diagram (click on it to go to Photobucket, and zoom);
Thanks again to JehuJava for sharing.
Insofar as tuning is concerned.....
Tuning the Frostwave (My own dabbling. Your way might be better.)
Tools required;
- Small screwdriver for adjusting the trimmers.
- DMM with frequency counter function.
- Your ears.
Procedure;
1) Set all four trimmers in the unit to center.
2) Power up the unit, and connect only the output to...
Hope y'all like this better than the old Great Destroyer. BTW, I'm not trying to hide the circuit, I'm just a generally nervous builder, so I like to insulate the SHIT out of stuff.
I've had this for years, but have never taken it apart to see how it works. It's built into a steel rectangular section conduit pipe thing. I have only become curious about how it might work recently as I want to change the invert footswitch to a loop order juggler. I think it's relay based switching all on a single pcb with all the jack sockets also board-mounted, hence my reluctance to dismantle it before now: It seems that all the hardware would have to come out in one piece, and then...
Hi, I’m Olof.
I noticed someone mentioning Providence Stamped OD Sov-2 in the request section. I had a chance to borrow a SOV-2 from a friend. I took it apart and traced it. I’ve attached the circuit trace, a couple of pictures and a bill of materials.
I have NOT verified the trace by building the unit, but the traced circuit looks possible. Hope this is OK.
Sov-2 is assembled on two PCB’s. This is a +/-15V circuit. 9V is dropped to 5V on the SUB PCB by a TA78L005 3-pin regulator and then...
Like title indicates , the pots gone bad , and the buffer gone out of fashion...Im ready to risk my self into modding my Voodoo1
Have anyone here done the experience ?
The pots looks really cheap and are directly implanted to the pcb
but it looks like i could change them with a little luck and isolationtape :wink:
Edit:
Pots:
1X 47k (gain) 2X 100k
It seems possible to change them , I'll do that
Just wondering if anyone has gotten their hands on one of one of these. Apparently the Rev. Billy F. Gibbons is quite fond of em. Hopefully it sounds as sweet as it looks.
It is a boutique style Fuzz Face only it is made by an engineer.
Microcontroller transistor bias circuit for temperature compensation. Two separate boards, one on each side, hanging from an Alpha pot and a Cliff jack. RoHS except for the AC128 transistors. Low profile IDC connectors and smt technology.
i bought JHS angry charlies pedal. i love it. so i replace the original parts with more better parts.
i change
1. all Epcos cap to nichicon FW. this is 100% sound better. i compare it side by side.
2. change all evox cap to wima (i haven't side by side to compare)
3. change all metal film resistor to japanese takman metal film resistor.
i compare it with my friend no modded angry charlies. sound bad than original much too much. less bass, sound too flat.
but i guess problem come from...
Hi guys. Looks like I've got a chance to make a contribution to this great place. I've acquired a broken Homebrew Electronics Psilocybe Phaser and after some stupidly simple soldering it works and sounds great to my ears. If anyone is interested in this wonderful piece of phase shifting, I can try to figure the schematics out or make other gut shots upon request. Labels on OpAmps are unfortunately barely readable. Any idea about what the schematics should look like is welcome.
Is there any info about or gut shots from this pedal.
A lot of people seem to like it and sometimes it is even mentioned to be similar to the KLON in some aspect. I think I have read some info about a charge pump in there??
I¨'m just a bit curious if there is something interesting or innovative that make it tick that one can learn from or if it´s just another improved TS?
Sorry in advance if this is not regarded as... or qualify as real booootique stuff and should be in another forum section...
Did a search and didn't see any mention of this pedal. Most of the MP overdrives have been tweaked Rat copies, any bets on this one? Also, there're apparently internal trimmers for ?mix and ?feedback on the delay side. Guesses that it's a DBD light? Actually $199 for a delay and overdrive in one box doesn't sound bad, sad that you can't engage them separately.
this is my first Thread here at FSB. I read a lot here full of enthusiasm, awesome page. I already built the Klon Centaur Clone, cool pedal. But I was always looking for a Vox style pedal, which gives you that nice shiny and gritty overdrive sound full of bells and rudeness.
Now I found a clip on youtube of the HipKitty Oxblood Distortion and I think this is something like I'm looking for.
I'm out of Germany and so I don't have the abillity to buy this pedal, so I'd like to ask...
So I traded my Box of Metal to a forum member here (thanks Brian!!) for a Catalinbread Heliotrope. And here are the gut shots with components labeled on a few of the pics.
The sound of this thing is, er, odd. Delightfully impractical is what I've come up with. :mrgreen:
Looks like the wiring/soldering is okay. The decal on on the face is very fragile, and I managed to mar it a tiny bit while removing the net for the switch. I don't know if it would hold up (cosmetically) while gigging.
Here's what should hopefully be a pretty simple one. Hybrid Si/Ge fuzz, knobs for Volume, Fuzz, and Bias, and a switch that changes a capacitor. The best gutshot I could find:
