Had a friend brought it today to see if it anything could be done about "overcompressed attack" (as he stated the problem). The only thing that I could do was to try changing those two non-SMD diodes. Didn't notice a lot of difference myself with different diode cofigurations, so we both agreed that it should be returned to stock and sold - it simply didn't work for him.

The only thing that struck me is that volume drop when it's engaged and relatively weak "chugga-chugga" factor when compared to Dr. Boogey I use for comparative purposes (it's quieter than Dr. Boogey, though). Otherwise high-gain is not really my thing so I cannot comment on tone quality.

The only thing I didn't like about it was the weak output when engaged. I had to run the volume full up, and it still wasn't enough to match the bypassed tone. Do you have a schematic?

Unfortunately not, sorry. :( It doesn't look very complicated even if it's SMD, but most of my afternoon with that pedal was spent in swapping diodes...

Had one of these pass by me today. Horrible....
Very thin, useless tone knob, same ol...

I opened it up and socketed every cap that was not smd. My final result resulted in fuller, more realistic crunch with a very usable tone control.

All Metal Film.
c1=.1
c3=.22
c10=.01
c11=1uf
c14=1uf

D5=red led
d4=3 way toggle. 2 red leds in parallel. 2 1n4001's in parallel.

hope someone finds this useful.

Thanks sevinisthenumber.

Could you post a bigger version of the schematics?

Switching is done via SN74HCT74 (like in some other FX).
BTW: Someone elsewhere claimed that it's a 1:1 copy of the T.C.J. "Gristle King".

Could someone let me know the stock values of C1, C3, C6, and C14? I'm trying to return one of these back to stock for someone and can't find the stock values anywhere.

Yeah, I noticed the volume is really low in this pedal too. Replacing the clipping diodes with LED's does give a lot more volume.

Right, but you're sacrificing distortion/saturation when you do this, yes?

Yes. Lower gain, higher volume.
