There is a little equivalence between this and decimator. This one has a SA2159 instead THAT2181 in the signal path, what other circuit is it based on?
What is 3046 IC?
2n5088 could be used instead?uncleboko wrote:LM 3046 used to be a transistor arraybetoknigth wrote:What is 3046 IC?

Possibly, but 2 of them around pins 1-5 are a differentially-connected pair so not as straightforward as making a decent coffee & walnut cake!betoknigth wrote:2n5088 could be used instead?uncleboko wrote:LM 3046 used to be a transistor arraybetoknigth wrote:What is 3046 IC?
why is it not the boss ns pedal...EddieTavares wrote:There is a little equivalence between this and decimator. This one has a SA2159 instead THAT2181 in the signal path, what other circuit is it based on?
I think the isp does noise gate well.just as clever as the isp,in the gating trigger part.

ns-2 does noise gate job well.just not as clever as isp in the gating trigger part...

I don't know about the behringer, it's meant to be a clone of the NS2 but the current version of the Boss NS-2 is slightly different from that older schematic. The main difference is the current Boss NS2 uses the THAT2181 VCA chip, the exact same one as the ISP Decimator. The resistors are all SMD's with the rest of the components still thru hole. Most of the circuit seems the same as the older version. I've done both the tone mods and the faster gating/reduction action and they worked fine. The pinout of the THAT2181 is totally different not to mention the way the VCA is triggered with the voltage/current levels, I think it's logarithmic vs the old linear one. There must be some changes to components nearer to the input trigger of the VCA.
I don't know what year the current revision was put into place, guessing at least 10 years ago. Very few pedals I have that aren't using SMD's, including ones that are 10 - 15 years old.

I just cracked open my Behringer NR300. It's using a Coolaudio V2181.moruya guitarist wrote: ↑09 Feb 2022, 06:58 I don't know about the behringer, it's meant to be a clone of the NS2 but the current version of the Boss NS-2 is slightly different from that older schematic.
