Caline CP-22 Purple Smoke Clean Boost

Got mine in the mail today. Tried it out and it sounded like there was a bit too much low cut for my taste. Figured that this won't be all that big of an issue, so i fixed mine by replacing the 1µ bypass cap with 47µ. Sure, the "clean" isn't there anymore when the gain pot is maxed. I do find this quite usable with this one cap replaced. The 4k7 in parallel with the level pot is somewhat stupid solution. 5k log pot would have sufficed. Mine didn't have a battery snap, but the pedal came with a battery adapter for standard barrel plug. This circuit, like most of the Calines i've seen, are nicely build cheapos that are easy to mod. This one could be turned into a "Channel 2" with minimal effort. One would just replace the transistor for a MOSFET, short the bypass cap, add 8M2 from gate to ground and a zener from source to gate. Also one would need to tweak the value of that 22k. Nevertheless, it would be rather easy to do. I do like mine as it is, with one cap upped. Didn't bother with the bypass switching or the LED for the schematic drawing.

Grah. Got couple of the designations wrong. Fixed.

Thanks for this post. I tried the 1uF to 47uF mod with a toggle switch instead of a permanent cap change, and it's a great toggle to have, tight bass versus super bass. WIth the stock cap, it sounds nice and fuzzy, but with the 47uF cap, it sounds like it's blowing out the speakers. It gives the pedal two completely different uses.

I bought one of these, R2 is 1M , R3 is 47K. The 100uf cap is rated at 25V, this pedal should be able to take 9V-18V.

Created a new schematic for this after tracing it myself.
