EHX - Frequency Analyzer really need 40 volts?

I don't get it, and I hate having to have that odd wall-wart as a part of my board.

The Mad Bean clone runs on 18v. :scratch

It needs +/-15vdc to operate. That's the reason. You could probably put a MAX1044 or something in it to simplify things.

Depending on the current draw from the 4 ICs you might be able to pull it off with an LT1054 providing +/- 18V but I suspect it might perform better with one LT1054 for the positive voltage and another for the negative voltage.
