There´s a sucker born every minute - and too many of them end up in the bootweak pedal biz.
And here's a verified layout from 2004 if you don't want to reinvent it.
I haven't crossreferenced it to AG's schem.

Hi all,the schematic is the MXR zakk wylde overdrive, does this consider as true bypass??

I will not answer to your question, because you seem not be able to read. If you would be able to read, you would have seen the notice in the schematic:
"By downloading you agree not to....distribute it on the web... without a written permission".
For this reason your attachement has also been deleted.
If someone is interested in the schematic, he can download it at the homepage of the copyright owner:

Furthermore please use the search function before you start a new thread. Threads have been merged now.

No. The circuit input is permanently connected to the input jack, with the switch only selecting the output signal. That'd be the hardwire/half-assed bypass then, same as in basically all the other MXR pedals, Dunlop/Vox wahs etc.darrenbkl@gmail.com wrote:Hi all,the schematic is the MXR zakk wylde overdrive, does this consider as true bypass??
I think most would agree that a tant cap can sound different than an electrolyte, as can a film cap. What that difference consists of, is another can of worms...jfcaron wrote:Does it change the sound if I use another type of capacitor than tantalum for C1? Like 3u3 electrolytic? Does tantalum capacitor have special properties?
Sonic properties aside, tantal caps are usually used for their smaller physical size, so it's not at all unlikely that the Dunlop techs chose to use one there simply because a regular electrolyte can wouldn't fit. If I were building a ZW-44 and didn't have a 3.3uF tant available, I'd just go with a regular electrolyte. At any rate, it shouldn't make a huge difference to the sound.

Hello, I got some questions about the symbol in Zw-44 schematic, could I ask some questions??
1. The symbol below R7, C2, C5 and above C7(a soild line with a dot)
Are they connected or connect to some where else??
2. And a Bold horizontal line corresponds to ground??
3. Is there missing of C11?
4. R2 is 470E??(very Large?)
5. Beside C1, there is a Ta, is there any meaning?
Thank You very Much~

2. Yes
3. ???..It doesn't mean that there is a missing cap when component numbers skips. You must haven't read the notes: "component numbering according to PCB".
4. E=ohms, it means 470 ohms..sometimes written as "R"..is it large for you?
5. "Ta" is short for TANTALUM. It's a type of capacitor.

Thank you for spending your time.
But I still got some questions.
I still cannot understand how to connect to Vref, and what really is it....
And beside VR1,VR2,VR3, what means by 1M D, 20k W, 10k lin??
And I found that C7,8,9 is different from other capacitor, what are they??
IC1a,IC1b are same component??
Also, S1a,S1b are same componet too??
Sorry for asking so many question...I am a beginner...thank you very much

I've never noticed it before but the R3/C5 is a low pass filter with a -3 dB at 338 Hz, quite low compared to a TS or a SD-1, actually more or less half the frequency of these two units.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact Wylde uses it in front of a JCM800, an amp a bit pushed on the mid-high freqs. I also think this pedal could be well suited for shrill transistor amps, am I wrong?

i build with the 2004 layout...B1M pot for drive, B20K for Tone and B10K for Vol.
The Gain is a little weak compare to the original and the vol is weaker too.
IC is as what AG said in his schematic. ...the motorola chip.
Can it be the weaker gain is due to illusion from different taper of pots?
What is D 1M actually? Antilog 1M?
If i jumper R1, i can get significant vol increase, will i?
The next thing to squeeze more gain would try to increase the 33k resistor that is series with the drive pot.
IF these thoery was approved, i will get the component to change and report back.
GURUs out there...please.

Hello!!
I have plans to build this stomp box. I just got one question. in the schematics the capasitors got two colours. black and white. whichone is plus or minus?

Looks like black = negative, and white = positive in this schematic.

thanks. One more question
the level pot is lin. the other two? log or lin.
I am using the schematics from handmades.com.
Do you have any advices. shall i do some changes or just follow the schematics straight of?
pentatonic hardrock solos rocks!!

My VERIFIED layout - at first it had a very low output! WAAAAAY LOW!!!
I had a JRC4558 in it - swapped for a TL072 and it screams! 082 works too.
