I bought one of these a while back. I haven't had a lot of time to play with it, but it's a nice little overdrive/distortion pedal. The V2 was introduced after the hubbub over it being an OCD clone (although there was a lot more hubbub over the Transparent Overdrive - no one cares that much about Mike Fuller, apparently :D).

I opened it up last night and just had a quick peak. The opamp is an LF353, a JFET amplifier similar to a TL072, apparently. No clipping diodes were immediately apparent. Inside there's a trim pot for a gain and a "lo-fi" dip switch. I didn't have time get pics, but I'll try to get some in the next day or two or three.

Sounds pretty good. I haven't attempted to draw a schematic or do any mods to the pedal. I just thought people might want to see the gut shots on this thing, due to the revision and internet scandal and all that.

Just one - a lo-fi switch. There should be a pic of it in there.

Edit: it's the last pic

Oh yes, I didn't see it. At first I thought we were talking about the Transparent Overdrive, that's why I was looking for lots of Dip switches.

I really like this pedal and I'm trying to figure out if it is a clone or a modded clone of a higher end pedal. I don't really buy the hype that it's a mod of the V1 or an OCD because they sound so different. The V2 can get into fuzz territory and despite all my best efforts I cannot get a V1 or OCD even close to fuzzing out. Ultimately I'd like to find or build a higher quality version because I've had 2 of these break on me. I can get it rehoused but at this point I'm more interested in the pedals origins. It' s also curious to me that the guts of my CO-2 pedal look rather different from the one pictured. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The topology would be easy with a perpendicular photo of both sides even if you didn't get the values from it.

Does this work? Note there is a small scrape on the PCB next to C15 and the orange one laying on it's side is a .33 and covers up R17 and R18.

Crikey, is that stock or modded?

Anyway you should be able to trace that; crank the contrast in paint, so that you can see what joins where, and then turn that into a schematic; use google for the std. dual op-amp pinout.

Not modded.

I have never created a schematic and don't really know the appropriate symbols for everything but i will give it a shot. What did you mean when you said "use google for the std."?

So I have 2 of these pedals. I bought one as a back-up after I had a CTO-1 fail on me. After looking at the first set of pictures in the thread and noting that the board says CO-2 I wanted to find out if the boards in both of mine were identical. They are not. The first one I purchased is identical to the first set of pictures; the 2nd/"back up" is represented in the pictures I uploaded. I guess it could be a revision. The older one has more mids and significantly less treble and sounds better IMO.

The tacked on through hole capacitor must be a factory mod.

he meant- use google for the standard dual op amp pinout. so you know where the ins and outs are on the chip.

funny how noone gives a shit about this pedal anymore after the initial storm over v1. personally, I'd like to know if this is really an original design or not.
