Does anybody know how to mod the Arion SAD-1 to increase the delay time?
Just like this one

An Arion SAD-1 with such a delay (700ms?) is the best analog echo ever IMHO...
Would maybe a 250k delay pot, instead of the stock 500k, double the delay time? :hmmm:

thanks guys!

Do so and you'll have awfull lots of clocknoise.

Best thing is to add a 2nd BBD in series with the first one.
Sorry. Plain out of planes.

buy another 3205 and make daughter board like https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=279
cool audio v3205 $5 at small bear.

and you'll need simple tone generator and oscill to tune all trims (2xbias and 2xclock noise).

Thanks Dirk! :thumbsup
Thanks Gena! :thumbsup
Well I hoped a 250k pot would have been sufficient... that would have been easier! :slap:
Anyway I'll try the 2nd BBD and the daughter board!

No - it would halve the maximum available delay. The faster the clock, the lower the resistance at the pot, and the shorter the delay!

The only way to extend the delay time is to add another BBD in series with the first. The problem with this is that you would have to buffer the clock signals, provide separate bias for the second BBD, correct the levels (each BBD will lose some signal), and take steps to mitigate the increased noise contribution of the BBD part of the circuit. Getting this right might be beyond you....
"Why is it humming?" "Because it doesn't know the words!"

Well yes - I think that's behind me... Most of all because there is an excellent analog delay with 1.5 seconds like the Deluxe Memory Boy, so who cares about modding the Arion if that's so difficult! :D
Anyway, if anybody has sufficient time and patience... I think this topic showed the way.
