Fender has a line of budget effects that are being sold for around $50 in big stores like Target and KMart. On a whim, I bought the chorus and was very nicely surprised--a *great* chorus, with both hi-pass and lo-pass filters. Also very nicely made for a massmarket box, well constructed and sturdy.

Hardly boutique at all, but here are a few gutshots.

I saw this, the Dist and another one (Flange maybe?) at a local music/book/DVD rental shop (Hasting's) - they certainly looked sturdy enough, but were also huge - like Way Huge, man  - As soon as I saw them, I wondered if I'd ever read about them here, etc.

What does the circuit compare to - anything familiar?

Looks like some OEM stuff...made in china? I get the impression that the same "star caster 2" PCB is used in different brands of pedals (Johnson, AXL, GP tools etc) although in different housings.
