Hi folks
here's a new wah I designed and built recently.
it uses a Whipple inductor (although other inductors should work reasonably well  ).
P3 and P2 on the layout refer to the potentiometer terminals (P1 is connected to ground  )
MPSA42 was chosen for low hfe - a 2N3904 will work well here too  .
I used 2M7 resistors in this build instead of the 2M2 specified on the overlay picture - not a big difference - they are only there as fet biasing :) .
The wah shell was purchased from Smallbear electronics a few years ago.
Basically - the design is a standard wah wah with jfet buffered input and output BUT with true bypass.
The footswitch is wired so that the input to the wah input buffer is grounded when the effect is bypassed - this ensures low noise switching characteristics.
Enough talk - the drawings are 600dpi :secret:
cheers

Thanks for sharing bajaman!

Any explanations about the choice of both true bypass and input buffer? Though I get the output buffer right, I do  for the input one actually...

I think the input buffer is there for a more suitable input impedance for crazy vintage effects that don't play nice with Wahs.. like (esp.) the Fuzz Face..
Right ?

How does this sound compare to the wizard wah you provided?
Generally.
And thanks for another "must build" project.

what software did you use???
CorelDraw X4  - but the only problem is it does not generate gerber files - okay for home made etched boards though :)

Will you be sharing the schematic?
yes
I just have to draw it up and make it pretty, but essentially it is just a standard Cry Baby wah with a higher gain first stage and buffered jfet input and output.

Excuse my poor english.

I rode. there was a problem because when the potentiometer is in course of approximately 75%, a glitch occurs.

Anyone have any idea what could be?

thanks

Hi Steve,

I was wondering if there was any way I could get a couple of PCB's etched for this, as I don't have the ability / equipment, but I have a couple of empty crybaby shells that are crying out to be used. and I'm definately into the idea of the in + output buffers...

Cheers,

Jeremy
