I see a mistake оn PCB with 18AC input and rectifier diodes, check it.

Yep, you're right. PCB has an error. I will fix that tomorrow. Thanks!

I did my rectifier off-board and added it onto the PCB afterward.

Is anyone up for designing a wah-shell version using Madbean's CAD files as a starting point? I probably don't have the experience level required to help design this, but just chiming in to say that if someone did, I'd definitely be in on a group buy for PCBs. (even if it's just 3 of us splitting a Dorkbot PDX order)

One thing worth noting - R.G. started work on a Crybaby shell version of his Neovibe over a year ago, but has not had time to finish it yet. His layout is unverified as of right now, but it could be a good resource:

Did some redrawing in SL to make it easier later for myself...
Kinda like AC-DC connectors in one line.
Still waiting for the Brians final version! :thumbsup

Hope this helps...
Cheers

Is D1 for when you plug the AC in backwards? ;)

joke, joke...

Here is the fixed version. The only change is that the 18AC input has been corrected. I've updated the images in the doc and included the fixed Eagle files.

Quick question...

Why not incorporate a charge pump circuit à la The Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe? It seems that most of the Univibe projects I've come across do not use a charge pump, any reason why?

Getting a Univibe to work with a charge pump takes some tweaking. I did test this one out using an LT1054 and it works, although the range of lamp biasing is actually diminished. I was able to get pretty much the same sounds as using an AC adaptor, but anything outside that range caused ticking. So, I went with an adaptor based layout.

You can easily modify it though by removing some of the power supply stuff and subbing in a charge pump. It will fit in that area no problem.

So, we can use an 18V DC power source to power this?
How is it different than using a charge pump to get up to 17V?

Yes you can use an 18v DC or AC. The difference is in current supply with the charge pump. The LT1054 will provide about 100mA at a voltage drop of about 1V. In my trials, it's enough to feed the Univibe, but a higher current supply (my AC adpator puts out 200mA) provided a much wider range for tweaking the bulb and no ticking.

Basically, the raw 18V AC from the plugpack gets full-wave-rectified into raw 18V DC, this gets regulated down to a steady 15V DC with a 3-terminal regulator, such as an LM7815, I'm using a 22V AC/450mA plugpack with my UniVibe build..... :D

Hi Dear Mad Bean. Have you any sample to get an idea? Thanks

I don't but I should box mine up and get it going. I have a couple other builds to finish first but I would be happy to do a demo of it when I have time to box it in an enclosure.

So I built the Warhead and I get nothing as far as I can tell. I turn the pedal on and there is no sound of any kind and the lamp does not even light up.

I have tried a wall wart and my Voodoo Lab Pedal Power. Nothing.

As far as I can tell, all of the parts are oriented correctly.

I only subbed one part. I used a 78L15 in place of the 7815T.

Its a bummer to make and populate such a big board and have it end up completely dead!

I don't even know where to start to de-bug this thing. Anyone have any ideas or advice to offer? I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!
