Bou-Bazz - Needlessly Complex Bazz Fuss

This is how I'd do up a Bazz Fuss if I were going to sell these for $250 as a "boutique" product.

Why use a darlington transistor when you can use two common BJTs?

Why use a simple diode for collector>base feedback when you can use a MosFET's body diode* instead? MosFET = more $$$ from more exciting marketing!

So we've got three transistors that could be doing the work of one + a diode. Brilliant!!!!

I made up a totally unneeded two-side layout for it as well.

You guys feel free to do it up in true boutique style (vero or perf) and add some goop.

Notice how the top traces are wider than the bottom traces. Why? Who knows, it's boutique!!!

*I actually tried the MosFET with and without a diode in series, and I can't hear a difference. I suppose a real hack would've included it for mojo.

you could add a switch to turn it into a buzz box for more complexity!

I was very surprised by how good a bazz fuss was when i first breadboarded it, great circuit!! might have to check out your mods

No way! I can change one part and have a whole new product! No need to give away what you can charge double for.

Agreed that this little circuit wins the award for best tone with the least parts.

I *think* that using the MosFET provides a little bit "softer" clipping, but that might just be in my head.

that is totally amateur noobish electronics

you need termperature stabilization, you know, otherwise that would sound awfully off when playing under a 400ºC open venue at Venus, or at the underground clubs around your city, i mean 5000 feet underground

The only way this will sound any good is to use two of the transistors in a transistor array chip for the darlington pair.... and add thermal stabilization
