Hot on the heels of my BAJA AFD OVERDRIVE PEDAL comes this little offering based on the frequency response characteristics of the Soldano SLO amplifier high gain channel. Once again I used the Philips BC547B transistors for the clipping stage and the low current low slew rate TL064 quad opamp for the input and output buffers and the two gain stages :D
This pedal has quite a different response characteristic when compared to the treble boosted AFD pedal - a fuller bottom end and less top end just like the amplifier it is based on. I do hope you take the time to build it - maybe someone can draw up a vero layout ( I always make the vero layout as I place the components starting with the quad opamp and then proceeding from the input through to the output).
I will be posting more high gain amplifier styled preamp overdrive pedals in the coming days / weeks/ months - I think I can do a better design of the Friedman BE-OD as well (one that does not oscillate and whistle out of tune  ), so keep a lookout
One thing you will notice immediately - no tone control section :!: The reason being that this pedal is intended to be used in front of a clean Fender style amplifier which already has it's own tone controls, but if you really feel that you need to add a tone control just graft a tube screamer, big muff Pi, or marshal type passive tone stack on the output (before the level control but after the output buffer  )
Have fun :thumbsup

Interesting! Would be nice to have a comparison video with this circuit: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.de/2014 ... o-100.html

I don't understand why there's no a veroboard layout drawn yet, but there's a working board. :?

I was trying to draw it, but more pictures to see better the position of the components could be useful. Some parts are overlapped. :thumbsup

honestly, not apple to apple
remember 'The reason being that this pedal is intended to be used in front of a clean Fender style amplifier which already has it's own tone controls'

and i know you did many vero layout, maybe you can compare that vero from tagboard with this https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ycWbTsUptrg/ ... ON-100.PNG

or, if you JFET haters or JFETless guy, try this https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ai2qklaTHEs/ ... ulator.PNG

then you can compare :thumbsup

Maybe Bajaman keep that vero art style for himself
and what i see, his layout and wiring not for majority veroboard builder
no crime to not share your own art and secret
===

here i go so far for *64 IC and onboard pots
sorry, have jumper :( and its hard to do BuGG style
and i must admit, for this, its easy to draw more small layout with vero or non onboard pots perf

Both are excellent and highly recommend, TrueVAL is amazing!!

Am I right that the polarity of C14 on the PCB layout is probably wrong.

Sounds interesting, thanks Baja !

I drew a quick layout for this one. It's not very optimized, but it should fit in a 125B.

I just checked it visually, but didn't build it. So if someone builds it using the vero, please let me know

Hi rcustoms :D
Thanks for contributing a great pcb layout for this pedal project - 2 small errors.
1. there is a missing 470k from IC2b pin 5 to Vbias
2. C3 should be 2u2 not 22u
cheers

I'm curious about the gain. It's a hi gain od? Any chance of a soundclip? (I posted the same thing on the AFD OD because I'm curious about both of them XD)

I made a 1590B layout that fits both AFD and SLO ODs. It was made to fit a 1590B with onboard pots. Still unverified. Also, the transistors I've used for the layout are 2N5088s, which have reverse pin orientation than BC547s.
