Hello all was wondering if there was a good substitute for the 2SK44C JFET for the Guyatone FS6 fuzz. Can pretty much any common JFET work? Thanks in advance! Also seeing it’s a Big Muff inspired circuit minus the output transistor stage do I stand to experience a sizable volume drop when the effect is engaged?

I have found the NTE457 as a replacement.

In the DIY_Stompboxes forum someone recommended the 2SK30 JFET as a replacement, I ran a simulation with it but it didn't work with the stage circuitry.
After that I tried a 2SK117 JFET, it works fine with the circuitry.
I would replace the 33k resistor with a 50k trimming potentiometer to adjust the drain voltage to 5 to 5.5 volts.

Any low noise NPN BJT with a Hfe range of 70...80 to 140...150.
The values of R9 and R14 must be adjusted so that the collector DC-voltage is about 4.4 volts.
