Looking for a particular component or hardware part and you just cannot find it? Got comoonents surplus and want to get rid of it? Post it all here... No sales of working pedals, put these in the 'Seen for sale' section please.

Hi,

I've just bought a Dunlop EJF1 Fuzz Face and I'd like to increase the output volume by upping the 330 ohm resistor a bit.
I do not however want to change the look of the nice "old school" circuit board by adding another type of resistor, so I'm wondering if anyone knows what type of resistors that are being used in this pedal?

I can't attach pics to this post but the resistors can be seen here: http://revolutiondeux.blogspot.com/2012 ... -face.html

Nice sounding fuzz!

Hmm... These resistors seem to be impossible to get hold of in my country...

Anyone that has som spares that I could buy?
Looking for maybe: 470ohm, 680ohm and 820ohm to try out.

Hi polifemo,

Maybe you can cut a trace on the copper side of the board and install (in that side !) a preset in series with the resistor you intend to change.

This way you can adjust the gain to the desired level and -when the board is installed again in place- the unit still look original.

There is some sort of electronic feng shui

Cheers,
Jose

Yup, would be one way to do it!

The Feng Shui is important inside of these beauties (got the Blue Hendrix Signature Fuzz Face as well) ;-)

You could do what a friend of mine did recently: He built a tiny Fuzz Face board using small plastic silicon transistors with small value capacitors base to collector of each transistor, and wired this to the front panel pots, the jack sockets and the footswitch. The battery connector went to the "dummy" board mounted above the real, working one, with jumpers to the board below. He scrounged a handful of credible, but old components from a scrapped TV chassis, and fitted them to the dummy board. It all looked credible - several "old" components, including a couple of dud germanium transistors...

Feng shui intact, but a functional, good-sounding, silicon Fuzz Face!
"Why is it humming?" "Because it doesn't know the words!"
