Just thought I'd throw this out there, I rolled the dice on these K117, fully expecting fakes.
I tested half of them (25 out of 50) with a Peak DCA75.

Average Vgs(off) = -0.351V
Average Idss = 1.815mA
Standard deviation Vgs(off) = 0.023V
Standard deviation Idss = 0.262mA

Pinout is a match, and obviously they come up N-channel with swappable drain/source in the DCA75.
I tried a couple in both a SS/BS mini clone and a Duende boost with no noticeable change in circuit self noise vs. SMD J201.

So does this mean they're actually real? Well... maybe. I wish I could actually test for noise.

I find it amusing that the seller is from a region more known for beer than for electronics.

Wish they had the BL type. I really really miss having those to use. Built some great sounding overdrives with 2SK117-BL.

Knowing they're not fake, I might order some of these. Thanks for the link! I've been curious to try some of the ones I've seen, but after getting burned (almost literally!) on some fake 2SK170 a few years ago, I've been very wary of buying hip discontinued JFETs.

You think there's some other tests I could run? I have a bench power supply that does 30V, I could try that across the base-drain junction and see if it smokes? Supposed to handle 50V: https://www.futurlec.com/Datasheet/Tran ... 2SK117.pdf

I don't remember the exact circuit I was using, but it was some usual thing you would use for testing drain current to find matched sets, because the thing I needed the K170s for needs them to be matched. And as soon as I tried one in the circuit, it burned up. The test voltage wouldn't have been higher than 12v

OK, I'm almost certain it was this circuit: http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/f ... tmatch.gif
GEOFEX is still my go-to source for this kind of thing!

I was thinking more tests for checking the K117 for authenticity.
