I'm having trouble finding a reliable source for these. Can anybody help me out? Are any of the sellers on ebay worthy?
Thanks

Well that certainly clears things up. Thanks for that. I was going to take a stab at Fulltones take on the FF, the '69. So I suppose anything that would sound good in that circuit will suit me fine. Which Russian Ge's do you recommend, and where should I go about purchasing them? Again, thanks.

I agree with Biffa. I've built Fuzz Face type circuits with a lot of different NOS transistors, and repros of them as well, in fact I've got 10 really good repro AC128s at the moment. But still the best sounding to me came from Russian transistors. The particular build that just hit the sweet spot for me had a GT308B for Q1 and GT402B for Q2, and you should be able to get 50 of both for about £30 total. The GT402Bs will have minimal leakage and the GT308Bs will have none whatsoever.

It makes me a little bit sick in my mouth when I read Analog Mike say that he has to audition his NOS NKT275s "for tone" to get the ultimate Fuzz Face. What utter shite.

The Russian transistors aren't repros, when I mentioned repro I was talking about some AC128s I've got. The repros are pretty good, but just nothing that's any better than the Russian transistors which can be bought cheaply and in large quantities.

My little experience:
I won 100pcs AC128 on ebay, for about $100. Only 1 (max. 2) of 10 had a usable leakage, so, 90 of 100 gonna trash (or awaiting Ge low gain overdrive, or so kind).

Before, I bough selected AC128 from germany (ebay again), $4/PCS, they are pretty cool, but can't find more.

Russian GT308, GT402/GT404 has a different sound, I often use pair GT308+AC128 on fuzz face and fqzz factory (nice sound), but GT404+GT404 compared to AC128+AC128 usually sounds poorly.

1T308 is military version of GT308, they looks interesting.

Poodlebra, I know this must seem like a silly question, but you don't happen to post purchased parts to Australia, do you?..... :D
