Wow

That thing is really crammed in there. Such a departure from the usual wasted space inside most 60's/70's pedals.

yes, it was difficult to get it out and back in, there's also black tape around the circuit to avoid shorts.

Yo

As far as the infamous schematic at the beginning of the thread goes its not so great. I've tried it with various OC76's and the basic Rangemaster setup is much better. The tone control just seems to muddy everything up and seems to sap the vitality of the input signal. Although I'm a fan of the .1 uf output cap the .0022 input cap just seems needlessly small as well.

Here's the schematic for the Vox Treble-Bass Booster.

The above is (sadly again) an incorrect Vox factory schematic of the V8401 made by Jen in a plastic box.

The correct (traced and verified) schematic can be found here:
Vox V8401 Treble-Bass Booster schematic

I am currently working on the schematic for the Vox V840 which apppears similar to it.

I wondered about that after the Repeat Percussion fiasco, but decided to go ahead and post it anyway. It's unfortunate there's no way to delete attachments to remove them from the forum.

Is it right do you think?
Also,whats bsm doing?
They build the invisible orange t&b?
And has anyone heard of their 'winston booster'?
Hmm

BSM makes great sounding stuff. I take their press stuff with a grain of salt though. Are you talking about the "OR" model? That's the one supposedly based on the Orange treble and bass booster. It has a single tone control.
I think its a little strange they seem to know exactly what tracks David Gilmour used it on when we can't even confirm the existence of the pedal.

i thought it was ok but maybe a little sterile
the stomp switch is crap though, and i've heard others had a similar problem
they sent theirs back and had it it fixed ok,but mine is probably not long out of warranty?

Yeah, I had to replace the switch in my friends bsm treble booster. I think it was the RM model. I was surprised to see that the volume control was wired on the output of the pedal. Just a big plastic block with a volume control on the end.
Around when did this schematic show up online? The Orange T and B booster that is?

The Picture on muziq site is from me i found that at a pawn shop for 40 bucks. It's noisey but cranks out a surprisingly loud boost treble or bass. I've come to the conclusion i'm the only person who has one and is looking for someone to tell me it's value. I've owned it for about two years and just now found this site. I've seriously been researching this pedal for what seems like forever. so if anyone has an idea on the value please reply. otherwise it will remain priceless in my opinion. it's gotta be very rare.

after the tape is off i'm looking at zero damage or corrosion. after looking for a little bit i've realized all the schematics are wrong not completely off, but something's amiss.

first i notice some of the values are different. 390k is a 500k, 80k is a 10k,2k is a 1k.

now here is the weird stuff. the 0.022 Mf is no where to be found. instead there is a network of two .22 mf caps and a 30k resistor.

here is the solder side notice the two blue wires those are the fixed sides of the pot. one connects like normal to the 1800pf cap the other connects between the two caps. one cap going to ground (the strip at the top of the pic) the other to the 30k which connects after the 1800pf . i will check my observations again after i post this to double check but it looks to be considerably different from the schematics.

wow-

will this finally come to an end??? i think i'm going to feel a very happy to see it traced, relieved to get it all over with, but still a little sad to see the mystery go.

ah, screw it- let's see a schematic! :horsey:

and, many thanks to Pedalman for ripping open this mystery box here at FSB. i feel very lucky at the moment!
