Also in a package; a non working Schaller fuzz

Schaller fuzz schematic from Analogguru's site; this version differs though:

- No C3
- C5 = 10 uF

Unit works now; sound sucks though :) Transistors are BC (no further marks).

Great pics BD!

I have a similar patient here Schaller too, didn't have the chance to post.
There a good chance that replacing the polarized electrolytes top and bottom by new ones will make a considerable difference, but check the voltages to we know what going on in the gain stages.

Case plastic too?

I think so too yes.... but the owner won't let me! He likes the sound, dunno why :)

Voltages:
V+ = 9.03V

Q1:
C = 2.05
B = 0.63
E = 0

Q2:
C = 4.75
B = 1.69
E = 1.05

And yes, plastic case, metal underplate

- No C3
possible, but C3 always was mounted on the solder side on all units I have seen.

Welcome back, AG! Hope all is OK (see "AG content" thread in Members).
Good grief, that Schaller fuzz uses components I still have in my box. Those electrolytics....

I checked when I got the unit if the C3 wasn't on the other side. It's not there :). Sounds pretty nice on high volume btw!

That´s the older ge-transistor version probably with 2 x AC 192.

I'm trying to buy it from the owner (bypassing the auction). Its a non working unit...I'm sure its just a fuzz face variation, but I'd still like to own it.

Here are some pics of the older Ge unit, which might have gone under the name 'Fuzz Booster'? At least that's how this unit was listed on Ebay.

It's one of the worst sounding fuzzes I know by modern standards - I used to play one back then !!

Are the guts this one of the running version?
A friend of mine has got one, not working, wired it the same way, components ok, no sound just humming...

Some more guts showing different PCB placing and missing/removed part. These two units are currently for sale on a french ad site, both for around 150/200€, both claiming to be stock (which looks like a lie)... The enclosure style is different too.
