OK...did a search and it seems we have threads for the FZ-1A and the FZ-1S, but not the FZ-1B...

Thanks...but that schematic differs from the unit in the pictures.
(at the very least a few of the values differ)

no caps are shown going to V+ in my prelim schematic...i assume that youre looking at the pdf and that the cap in the pdf shouldnt connect to V+hamster wrote:C3 should not go to V+, only R9 (offboard) and R11.
I cant tell here its going in the photos. Originally, before looking at the pdf, i had assumed it went to a pot, but after looking at the pdf I'm sure it connects to R9 / R11
R6 = 120k is 56k on your sample
green - blue - yellow = 560k, not "56k"
if it was green - blue - orange it would be 56k...but it's not.

Here's the updated schematic, using "missing" values from the PDF...

This photo shows C3 as either a .15uf or a .1uf ....hard to tell which from the pic...you have it labeled as .22 (like the factory schematic) ..i thought it looked more like a .15uf, so I labeled it as such. In truth, any of the values from .1uf - .22uf should work fine.

Thats "somewhat" correct...we have at least 3 different versions of the FZ-1B, all of which are confirmed by photos of multiple units. FZ-1B's can have 2 transistors or 4 transistors, depending on the version. AG's is correct for version 1, though the unit I traced had a couple different values.
It may be useful to catalog the different versions and factory schematics / manuals as well.

BTW...this is the "final" from the unit I traced...it is essentially the same as AG's, save for a couple small value differences.

Hi everybody,
Regarding different versions of this box, I've found essentially 2 (maybe there are little component value differences betwen unit, bot more or less the same). One of them is the 2 transistor kind, like the the one from analogguru, and there's the 4 transistor version, like that shown on the photo by MoreCowbell. But you're talking about 3 versions, what about the 3rd one?.
I will try building both or the three of them on perfboard, maybe next month or so, just to see the differences, and them build properly my fauvorite (or maybe all of them, beeing the fuzzfreak I am). I'll tell you about it.
I also built the FZ1S (which i think is great), but is really different from the FZ1B according to the samples of this last one I found in the net, FZ1S is more... massive, more like a SuperFuzz or so.

If you find links to any of them, do post them. I seem to remember we have some of them here, will try to read through the fuzz tone threads.MoreCowbell wrote:It may be useful to catalog the different versions and factory schematics / manuals as well.

I'm sure you guys might already have this but here it is again. I copied it from the schematic lable inside the unit before I sold it on ebay. One thing to note on the 4 transistor version is the balance knob which is the 50k stacked pot. It worked just like a balance on a stereo where left chanel is fully clean and right chanel is fully fuzz. Also there was no noticeable volume change, as you dial in the dirt you can still hear your clean signal, it diminishes at the same rate as the fuzz increases.
