Bassman aa864 master volume mod

Hi,
I want to mod my fender aa864 to add a master volume ( post phase inverter ). But I have a question... The cable thick does matters? The cable that I have is a XLR mic cable.

That wire will work in low voltage places such as the input grid but without knowing just how you intend to insert the mod you may need to use wire with a higher voltage rating. If not sure then use wire that is rated for the working voltage of the amplifier.

Again I say use wire that is rated at a higher voltage that low voltage mic cable.
Although the wire may only see 70~100 signal voltage those wires will likely run very close to wires/terminals with 300~400 Volts.
Be aware that the *Primary* winding's of the output Tx will have close to double the DC working voltage inside the amp.
So if the HT is 400 then easy to see 700Volts of signal on the plates of 6L6.
If still in doubt you really should find help locally from a tech as messing around inside valve amps can kill you,,, or your best mate.
