What transformer are you guys using for the pcb?
How much is the shipping for the tube town tranny to the usa?
Is there a cheaper alternative?
Thanks guys.

You may wish to consider a switchmode supply?
If so,,,This might interest you.

Hasn´t anyone checked this site for another PCB layout of the F2-B aka Fender Showman preamp ?

http://www.lorcan.me/projects/tube-bass-preamp/

This supplies the PSU and tube board as PCBs.

However I´d use a CF after the last tube stage and not just a pot as suggested on the website.

BTW, the "infamous mod" done by Pete Cornish to Dave Gilmour´s F2-B was likely nothing else as a change of the cathode bypass capacitor to something more useful for guitar and by adding a CF (the "extra tube", that is) to get an output level that can be fed into FX (which is basically what DG does ... he feeds the processed signal into the power amps of his Hiwatt amps later on but not directly after the preamp).

Would there be another way to lower the outputs that doesn't involve a 2nd tube stage?
Maybe an L-pad or even a transformer to get a balanced output signal?

I built one of these Alembic F2B's. I paralleled the input jack throu a DPDT switch and this works fine for 2 separate outputs. But for some reason, the output jack for both channels (the one that is connected after a 47K resistor from channels A out and B out) doesn't work. Do they have to be 1% precision R's???

On the output jack for both channels, only one comes out. I triple-checked the connections with a digital volt meter. If nothing plugged in only one channel is present. If there is a cable (mono 1/4 plug) connected both channels are present but only one comes out.
