I have a tda7052 and I found this project around the net: http://www.redcircuits.com/Page96.htm
I am interested in a overdrive pedal that can drive a cab if needed and I plan to build something around that project.
My idea is to put a volume control at the end of the circuit (everibody seems to put it at the beginning instead) will this work?
The earth of the output (stereo) jack seems isolated; using the pedal as a fuzz/overdrive and plugging it in an amp will always put the IC pin 8 to eart (of some other device yes... but) does it make sense?
Will be hazardous to put that pin to eart? Maybe using a cap?
I plan to put a couple of clipping diodes on the output like on the second pic. Again, will this work?

my favorite amplifier: my hughes and kettner blue 30r
Completed builds: 3 jcm 800 builds
4 vintage plexi builds
2 bogner ecstasy preamps [both for personal use]
10 marshall guvnor mods and builds
100 jungle kat boosts
too many penguin love's to count.
5 blues pearl purplexed
dozen tube screamer fulldrive whatever you call them variants

hell i can't type this long it will piss off people what can i say i have been doing mods on toyz appliances gear sex toyz computers and such for 27 years. i started when i was 6 taking stuff apart.

i can look at this when i am better awake but since i am looking at it why on earth use a pushpull output stage when you want to make it a fuzz too. why not utilize something like the lm386 which is single ended and is better suited to this role.

Well... I just appen to have one tda7052 around and I am in the mood to breadboard something.
I just wanted to know if somebody has some experience with that chip.
I tryed lm386 to build a smokey amp and something more flexible too; the results were not so good sonically (probaly it was my fault.... this time I have a socket to avoid wasting a chip).
I did not start to work on it yet, but I think about it, I think that a couple of cap should solve the push pull problems (value?).
Thank you for any contribution.

I breadboarded something today.
From an amp point of view the IC turns out super easy, it worked with just the IC and an input cap. The sound is clean but beautyfull.

I tryed to put the - pin to earth with no problem, but everything I placed on the output did non work good; diodes don't sound good (I tryed 1n4148 and 1n40004), you get distortion but a bad and strange one, not very musical (maybe different diodes....?).

Volume control works way better if placed on the input.

From the overdrive point of view I can't get any dirt from the circuit. So you can overdrive a tube amp slamming the input (and get overdrive) but not get a distorted signal from the unit.
In the redcircuit project page they say that the effect can work as a fuzz if powered at 3V; so I plan to try sonething like a beavis audio devolt to get some dirt. I will report the results.
