:?: ive been meaning to remember to post this question online at the diy guitar effects site. my question is,why are there limited info on the internet. what I mean is the vintage diy guitar effects schematics and circuits have stayed the same for years.companies and music techs have designed hundreds or thousands of guitar effects designs since the mid 60s.why aren't they ALL online by now.I know it supposed to depend on people who are nice enough to upload obsolete music electronics info/projects,but diy effects have been online for a few years now.Why doesn't the government, library of congress, etc release all music electronic related articles, projects, etc from old defunct electronics magazines, etc and put it online. why do us diyers have to wait years to find more obsolete guitar effects circuits and schematics?Theres been hundreds of thousands of articles printed on the subject since at least 1964.

Because all the new ones are ripoffs of the old ones?

I see things like this from time to time, but they're not usually as blatant. This is so much like the old walters/markphaser that I wonder if he has a new ID and is trying to be clever; or possibly this is a troll in the old markphaser/walters style.

On the possibility that this is a real person that's not trolling, just naive:
The short answer is that what you get is either (1) what you earn or (2) what people want to give you for free. Obviously, you didn't earn all the information you already have, and you clearly didn't earn access to ALL of everything electronic. So you've been given a gift by a large community of people, and you wonder why a nebulous group of other people don't give you everything you might possibly want. This is very much like a stranger giving you a modest gift of money and you then asking "hey, mister, why didn't you give me all the money you have in your wallet and bank account?"

If you, as a member of "us diyers" want more info, get off your duff and go find stuff to contribute to the pile. It's a whole lot better than carping about why a nebulous someone didn't give it all to you already. Remember the adage about it being better to light a single candle than curse the darkness?

Without getting into a political rant....
I don't believe that it is the government's job to fulfill your every want, need and whim. It is my opinion that the government should stay out of private citizen's lives as much as possible.....with the citizens saying how much!

When I was a kid , I used to believe the library had every book ever written ,
I thought they were stored there and got all the new ones as they came out .
Now I know they only have room for so many and are able to track what people read the most,
I buy some that are sold in discard sales, sad that No one has the time , space or commitment
I mean there is allot of bad fiction, but these days people are writing the same book every year
to have something " New " to sell, and we have learned since the old days , what's the answer ?

I wouldn't trust what the faceless govt decided was a musical effect and what wasn't.
Government don't know toan. :P
I will just trust the diy'ers who came before and stand on their shoulders and try to do something productive in the community myself.
There is already several lifetimes worth of information there to be used and enjoyed now.
It is the golden age of doing what we are doing.

And if they did can you imagine how much it would cost the taxpayer (that's us). It would require countless committees and think tanks and all manner of expenses and several years before a single byte of data was uploaded.

Would you really trust a bunch of politicians to make even a half arsed job of it? I wouldn't trust one further than I could throw him/her.

Shhh! Someone might read this and think it's an ingenious idea (of how a select group of politicians can even further create well-paid jobs for themselves).

"Hmmm... my $10k monthly salary isn't quite enough, I'm glad I'm part of that 'schematic committee' that pays me another $10k per month - not to mention generous retirement funds - for just drinking coffee in a meeting once a month."
