Can we build a thread about the theory involved with audio electronics? Please point me in the right direction if we already have one. I haven't yet seen one... I think it would benefit us all here at FSB and give the knowledgeable members of the forum a chance to brush up on the things that they left behind at university.
I was looking to do an electronics course at college but, it wasn't solely focused on what i wanted. It would give me (as well as everyone else in my situation) the opportunity to persue my passion.

Thank you very much guys, i owe you one.

Electronics theory can get pretty deep and involved.
You need a text/reference book.. it's beyond the scope of a forum discussion (apart from individual points of interest).

The Art of Electronics is an excellent place to start.

Although "The Technology of" is a great beginner mathematics intro to guitar effects, the truth is is that we take those rules like "the device should be kept in its linear operating range" and throw it out of the window some of the time. I would love to see a lot more too, but some of these designs are accidents or vague experiments that happened to sound good.

Yes i do understand what you're saying, i just want to be able to work out frequencies and gain ratio: etc.

???

Art of electronics + this applet http://www.falstad.com/circuit/ should do the work.

Oh I forgot. Art + applet + many hours you could spend with girl or friends :D

I've got a page dedicated to Internet calculators on my blog. it's at the links on the right. they also have the equations involved.
