In some posts there are linked images, the links are OK but the images are not visible.
In the page source they look like: <img src="" class="postimage" alt="Image">

example: viewtopic.php?p=249027#p249027
It is related to the security measures in place - the image has a non-https src. Time to dig into the database.

Thank you, x-tn, good catch.

LATER EDIT: And done.

The "Thanks" button seems to have disappeared from a lot of the sections (I was never sure which had it with the old system).
You should be able to thank here even, which is new. Let me know if you see a forum where you don't see the 'thumbs up' icon. Or anything else that seems off... really appreciate the feedback.
Nearly everything post can be thanked in the "General Area" excepting those in the "Testing" and "Archive" sections, but there's nothing to be gained by allowing thanks there.

Everything can be thanked in "Circuit Analysis", good show!

After that, nothing can be thanked. "Stompbox Building" (including the subforums in the "Stompbox Builder's FAQs & How To's" section) and "Amps, Guitars and More"

There is "And here's my most recent build:" and the image is not displayed. Is it because of "?h=300" at the end of image URL?

I think - hope this is fixed now for this forum section. Privs changed for these sections:

None of the dropbox links work for me... and user's last login was in 2017...

The missing image it's because of the same http issue. I'm searching for a more exhaustive solution.

Meanwhile  ...

Did you know that
...freestompboxes.org has 42855 posts containing non-secure "http://" links?
...which link to 7764 domains (not counting subdomains)?
...also freestompboxes.org has 28014 posts containing links like http://smallbear-electronics.mybigcomme...1240801556/ (notice the three dots), which were incomplete from the get go?

LATER EDIT: And done. Apparently MySQL can do regex.

Thanks! That solved a lot already.

In "Stompbox Building" most posts can be thanked now. Just the ones in "Tag & Turretboard Layout Library" and "Stompbox Builder's FAQs & How To's" with all its subforums can't be thanked.

In the "Amps, Guitars and More" area, still nothing can be thanked.

I can give thanks in this section... and saw other thanks as well, but maybe they are not recent...
Anyway thanks for the help: phpbb allows me to assume any user's priviliges, but this doesn't include the thanks. That is probably because the thanks functions is an extension, not an integral part of the phpbb software.
Thanks so much or helping me out here...

Happy to help! I can thank in the "Amps, Guitars and More" area now too! I couldn't not at the time when I made my previous post. Odd, perhaps it was an old cookie?

I deleted them all, logged in again and went to the "Stompbox Building" area. I still can't thank in the "Tag & Turretboard Layout Library" but at least I can post replies, start new threads - should it be necessary - report posts.
Then in "Stompbox Builder's FAQs & How To's" with all its subforums, something odd is going on. I can't do anything there? Can't thank, can't post a reply, can't start a new thread, can't report a post.

Also, I noticed a lot of the most recent posts in these subforums are from quite a while ago. Were some threads accidentally deleted with all the upgrades and updates?

This section was setup as a read-only forum to store post containing practically information, hence this setup. But I am reconsidering moving these somewhere else. The forum structure has grown to elaborate and I'm trying to condense things a bit.

Nothing was lost, rest assured, I think there was just little activity in this section... also unsticked a bunch of irrelevant stickes etc...

EDITING PRIVLIGES: I am really facing problem restoring the edit priviliges for normal members... in fact everything is set correctly so that posted can be edited, but it my simulations, this is still not the fact. If anybody see the little edit icon, please let me know...

That explains a lot, again. Thank you very much for all that you're doing to keep this place running! I really appreciate it.

The Edit button appears for me (in Pimp My Cheap Pedal).

Edit - And the Delete button for a short time.

And that's exactly how I set it... for now: you can always edit your own messages and even delete it completely, but only within the first ten minutes.

I saw that one too... what's happening here: the preview file is still available, but the actual attachment file is not on the server. We did lose a bunch of attachments with our second move in the summer of 2011... Wherever I see something like this and have the files on my disk, I restore the pictures. In this case I don't, and the user hasn't been online for quite some time..

But don't stop reporting your finds... much appreciated.

Is it possible to get the " latest post " preview back ? when you hovered your cursor over the latest post icon you could see the first line or two of the post
not many forums have this, but I find it handy thanks

Hey, good point, I was like feeling the same. We do have this extention activated - Topic Preview
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... picpreview
But what you are talking about is a nice little extension that we had running on phpbb 3.0.11, but no longer seems supported in later versions
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... st/support

The open source nature of the forum has its advantages and disadvantages - extentions are developped by volunteer programmers. Some of them catch on, some don't and die. But creating an extention give the programmer access to a community of users through phpbb suport forums, so there are way for him to monetize his work. But it's always a long shot...
